Honda World Motocross Team looks to end season on a high

This weekend (10-11 September), the Honda World Motocross heads to the 15th
and final round of the 2011 MX1 World Championship season, the Grand
Prix of Fermo, Italy. In what will be a home Grand Prix for many
involved with Honda’s World Motocross project, sights will be set on a
result which will cap off what has been a great season for the official
Honda squad.

Although it hasn’t all been smooth sailing, with
injury and bad luck playing their part, The Honda World Motocross Team
will look back on a season that has seen them achieve seven overall
podiums, three individual moto wins and an overall Grand Prix victory in
Teutschenthal, Germany. The most successful season for Honda in the
premier class for several years!

Team riders Evgeny Bobryshev
and Rui Gonçalves have both developed significantly throughout the
season and have now become a force to be reckoned with and a potent,
consistent podium thre
at. New
to the team for the 2011 season, both Bobryshev and Gonçalves have more
than proved their class and demonstrated that they are the guys to
continue to spearhead Honda’s revamped World Motocross project into 2012
and beyond.

They will both be looking for one final good
result at the hillside Fermo track, to prepare them for next weekend’s
Motocross of Nations and to send them into the off-season on a positive
note, before they embark on an extensive winter testing schedule in
Japan and across Europe.

Evgeny Bobryshev, Honda World Motocross

“I did not ride at Fermo last year as I was still carrying and injury
that I picked up in Brazil. Watching from the sidelines though, it looks
as though it is a good track but it can be a bit different when you are
watching to when you are riding, so we will see. Overall it has been a
great season for me. Honestly, coming to this team has changed my life
and together I
feel
we achieved so much. I am looking forward to finishing the season strong
and already looking forward to next year.”

Rui Gonçalves, Honda World Motocross
“Fermo
has been revised in recent years. I have ridden the old track but I
really like the new layout as well. It is really spectacular for the
public with a lot of jumps, big tabletops and rhythm sections that are
fun to ride as well. I am looking forward to riding there again and to
hopefully finish the season on a high, fighting for the podium once
again. I feel proud to be involved in this project with Honda and next
year I feel that we will be even stronger together.”

Lorenzo Resta, Team Manager, Honda World Motocross
“Fermo
is a special GP for us, we have lots of guests and sponsors come to
this event and there is a really special atmosphere. 2011 has been
the
start of a new era for us and we have come such a long way. This season
will go down as a great one, we have achieved and exceeded our targets
as a team and as individuals, but we will not stop there. We have one
more GP to focus on this year and then our thoughts will turn
immediately to 2012.”
