Herjan Brakke and the Yamaha van Beers Team Dutch Champions MX1

Herjan
Brakke of the Yamaha van Beers Racing Team clinched the Dutch MX1 title
at the penultimate round of the series in Markelo. Brakke finished
second in the first moto and managed to win the second moto to clinch
the overall and the Dutch MX1 title.

Herjan
started the day positively by posting the fastest time in practice. In
the first moto he took a good start and came out of the first lap in
second position. Herjan was following the leader in the beginning of the
race and after fifteen minutes he took over the lead. Herjan was
leading the race till the closing stages of the race. Unfortunately he
got passed with still several laps to go and he couldn’t come back so he
crossed the finish line in second position. In the second moto he
started the race in second position again. Herjan took his time and in
lap four he took advantage of a mistake of the leader and took over the
lead. Because the second place rider made a crash straight away Herjan
had a big gap over the rest of the field. He took no risks anymore and
was riding a consistent race. After thirty long minutes he crossed the
finish line in first position and clinched the Dutch MX1 title.

Petar
Petrov set the second fastest time in the MX2 practice. In the first
moto he ran into the gate and had to start in last position. Petar
started a charge back trough the field and managed to come back to
seventh position. In the second moto he took a much better start and
came out of the first lap in fifth position. In the first few laps he
couldn’t find his rhythm but after several laps things started to go
better and he worked himself back up to third position. The two leaders
were already to far gone to pass so he had to be satisfied with third
position.

With
a seventh and a third position in the motos he finished third overall.
With still one round to go he sits in fourth position in the standings.
On October, 15^th the final round of the series will be held in Mill.
