Press Release

Hayle Shay Brown Honorary Team Member of Violation1.com/ Shea Racing/PassportWorld/National Switchgear in Houston

Injured female motocrosser to participate in team activities at AMA Supercross

HOUSTON (March 29, 2012) – When you hop on a motorcycle you understand there is a high probability that you will crash, and that there is a possibility you will be injured. Most racer injuries are quickly recoverable. However there are instances when a crash causes severe damage that affects both racing and the way of life. Team Violation1.com/Shea Racing/PassportWorld.com/National Switchgear powered by SMS Racing has been inspired by 19 year-old Hayle Shay Brown who has an amazing perspective despite her serious injury. The team is privileged to host her at Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM Championship, this Saturday, March 31 at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas.

Brown was one of the fastest female racers coming out of Texas with hopes to compete in the Women’s Class in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. That dream was put on hold on October 23, 2011 when she suffered life-threatening injuries.

Brown’s injuries may be permanent. Her doctors said that her spinal cord may take up to 18 months or more to fully heal, which includes all the damaged nerves. Her T9-T11 were fractured. The T10 was crushed, resulting in her paralysis. Brown may get some sensation back but nothing is certain. During her crash she also had an aneurysm the size of an egg on her aorta artery. Gratefully it did not rupture. Brown had successful heart surgery in January.

“I'm in a pretty cool lime green wheel chair right now to rep my Kawasaki love,” said Brown. “We sold my bike. It was really a sad day saying bye to my baby.”

Brown wrote this on her Facebook page about her journey, "This girl was once wrapped in a shell and she broke through to spread her wings. She soared high in the sky boasting boldly amongst the rest. Yet one day, just another day she was shot from the sky. Tumbling to the ground she crashed, but she rose up again. Broken wings with new found thoughts, she treads on lower grounds. A new view of things to show her the path and righteousness. Hope does not give up."

"I'm truly honored to have Hayle join our team for the Houston round,” said Tim Shea, team manager. “She is an amazing inspiration to all of us. I believe there are great things ahead for her. Our whole team is very excited to meet her and give her a behind-the-scenes look at AMA Supercross. I'd like to thank Feld Motor Sports for supplying Hayle and her family with VIP passes for the day."

Team Violation1.com/Shea Racing/PassportWorld.com/National Switchgear will make Brown an honorary team member at this weekend’s Houston AMA Supercross round. What does this mean? She’ll get team pit gear, VIP event passes provided by Feld Motor Sports, participate in a track walk with the team riders, sign autographs during the pit party, participate in team meetings and watch the race from one of the best seats in the stadium.

Team Violation1.com/Shea Racing/PassportWorld.com/National Switchgear athletes #68 Shane Sewell, #505 Sean Lipanovich and #564 Jeremy Hudleston will compete for spots in the AMA Supercross East Region Lites main event at Houston on their SMS Racing KTM 250SX-F race bikes. Sewell has competed in four main events in six rounds with his best finish a tenth (his career best is eighth place). Last week at the Toronto, Ontario AMA Supercross East Region Lites round, he finished a hard-fought and consistent 12th place. Lipanovich and Hudleston have been battling injuries since the start of the East Region rounds. Thankfully they made the night program in Toronto in their FLY Racing gear – a first this season for all three team riders.

Travis Sewell #62 will also join Team Violation1.com/Shea Racing/PassportWorld.com/National Switchgear for this weekend’s Houston round and the April 14 New Orleans round on an SMS Racing-prepared KTM 350SX-F with DRD exhaust, Supersprox gearing and Dunlop tires. Travis Sewell just missed earning a spot in the AMA Supercross class main event in Indianapolis by only one position.

Micro Tech has come on board as a team partner, and Shea Racing is thankful to have them aboard this point in the season. This is Micro Tech’s first involvement in AMA Supercross. Micro Tech representatives will be at the Houston round.

Team Violation1.com/Shea Racing/PassportWorld.com/National Switchgear powered by SMS Racing will appear at round 13 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series, which is also East Region Lites round seven, on Saturday, March 31 at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas. During the pit party, make your way to the team’s purple and yellow rig to meet honorary team member Hayle Shay Brown, team riders and check out the fully-prepared SMS Racing KTM 125SX two-stroke project bike showcasing the team’s sponsors’ products.
