Frossard to attempt Italian GP after knee surgery‏

Monster Energy Yamaha’s Steven Frossard will travel to Fermo for the
Grand Prix of Italy this weekend and attempt the third round of sixteen
in the FIM Motocross World Championship in the wake of successful
surgery on his right knee on Monday.

The 2011 MX1 championship runner-up required a
procedure to remove a damaged anterior cruciate ligament and is now
hopeful of postponing a reconstruction of the joint until the end of the
season. After initial estimations that the Frenchman had affected his
meniscus after catching his knee on the ground during the qualification
heat for the Grand Prix of Bulgaria last Saturday, it was actually the
ligament that was causing pain and a lack of movement.

With the knee now ‘tidy’ Frossard – who has already
won the 2012 Italian Elite Championship - is aiming to get his MX1 Grand
Prix campaign back on track after a strong start and a podium result
several weeks ago at Valkenswaard in Holland for the series opener.

Monster Energy Yamaha MX2-GP star Christophe
Charlier will ride his YZ250FM for the first time this Thursday since
breaking his foot four weeks ago. Depending on the outcome of the
session a judgement will be made on his participation this weekend on
the Adriatic coast.
