Frossard takes 8th at Czech MXGP‏

At a chilly and wet Loket circuit for the Casino
Bonver Grand Prix of Czech Republic, Monster Energy Yamahas Steven
Frossard finished eighth overall in the final ranking of the premier
MX1-GP category with his works YZ450FM.

The twelfth event of fifteen on the 2011 schedule
was attended by 21,000 spectators through the weekend. Loket is a fine
example of an old fashioned motocross circuit with a quick and curling
layout with plenty of drops and climbs. Lap-times were tight and it was
hard for riders to make ground if they didnt start among the leading
group. The single grippy racing line also limited any viable overtaking
places, the majority of moves coming through block-passes or a degree of
risk.

Frossard was frustrated by the course in the first
moto as he battled with Clement Desalle, Rui Goncalves and Evgeny
Bobryshev for second position. The group circulated together for the
entire moto but the 24 year old Frenchman had to accept fifth by the
flag. An eventful start to the second race saw 183 almost fall in the
first corner after being struck by the crashing Bobryshev. In the next
phases of the sprint he came-up short on a jump and was landed upon by
Antonio Cairoli, luckily avoiding injury. In fact Frossard was able to
remount and begin an impressive charge up to twelfth by the end of the
21 laps.

David Philippaerts missed the grand prix and will
also be out for the rest of the season after a midweek training accident
led to two broken wrists. The Italian lost traction on the ramp of a
step-up double at a nearby circuit in Germany. He has had
straightforward corrective surgery on the left limb but is waiting for a
final operation on his right wrist. The team placed a pit-board in the
riders area of the awning saying Take it easy David, keep strong.

Anthony Boissiere was sixteenth overall. The
Frenchman crossed the finish line of the second moto with thirteenth
place but his ranking was affected by crash descending the notorious
long step-down where he landed awkwardly on his right shoulder. There
was no injury concern but Boissiere was unable to continue.

Frossard has accumulated 428 points in his first
MX1-GP season and the first with the works YZ450FM. He holds 3rd place
by 41 points over Evgeny Bobryshev and trails Clement Desalle by 33.
Philippaerts is currently 7th while Boissiere is 15th.

Trips to England, Germany and Italy remain in the
2011 FIM Motocross World Championship and the British Grand Prix at
Matterley Basin, near Winchester, will take place on August 21st.

Steven Frossard, 5th position:

Loket is always a bit difficult for me. In the first
moto I had a good start but Desalle pushed me in a corner and I lost
some positions. It was so difficult to pass. We were together as a group
for a long time and I tried everything but it was not possible. It was
not fun riding and wasnt a great moto. Bobryshev hit me in the first
corner of the second race and I almost crashed but managed to keep
upright. I fought back quickly to eighth but then Cairoli landed on me
from a jump and I went down. It was hard to restart but I came back to
twelfth, which wasnt too bad and I felt better with the second heat. I
lost some points on Desalle today but could pull away a little bit from
Bobryshev.
