Frossard fit for season closer

Monster Energy Yamaha’s Steven Frossard had a clear message for his team
on Sunday evening after the Grand Prix of Europe: “get the bike ready
for Fermo”. The Frenchman who is currently second in the FIM MX1-GP
Motocross World Championship standings had to suffer his first DNF of an
incredible rookie season in the premier class of the sport and on the
factory YZ450FM after a first moto crash at Gaildorf saw him taken to
hospital for a precautionary check.

The winner of two Grands Prix (Sweden and France)
this season lost traction on the approach to the finish line jump and
hit the ground. ‘183’ went to remount but had suffered an impact to the
chest and instead was taken to hospital on the advice of medical
trackside staff after a nose bleed caused initial concern. Examinations
on the French Motocross of Nations team member revealed no damage and
Frossard was quick to turn his thoughts towards the final round of
fifteen in the series, at Fermo in Italy, this coming weekend.

‘Steven was a bit dazed but said he felt OK after
the crash. Understandably he went to hospital to check that all was
alright and everyone is happy that he is fine,” commented Team Manager
Massimo Raspanti. “We still have some work to do to confirm second place
in the world championship and that will be the main goal now at our
home GP this weekend.”

Frossard is currently 33 points ahead of Max Nagl in
fourth. The German is his nearest threat as he cannot be caught by the
absent Clement Desalle in third place.
