Press Release

Focus now shifts to Brazil for Honda World Motocross Team

Fresh from the Honda World Motocross Team’s first podium of the year
– last time out in the Glen Helen, USA – the focus now shifts to the
next round and the second of back-to-back flyaways. Indaiatuba, Brazil
(21-22 May) will host the fourth round of the MX1 World Championship
and is shaping up to be a very different challenge for riders Rui
Gonçalves and Evgeny Bobryshev.

Neither Bobryshev nor
Gonçalves have experience of the Indaiatuba track but what is expected
to be a fast layout, may now just suit the Honda World Motocross
riders, who acquitted themselves extremely well at the devilishly
high-speed Glen Helen Raceway less than a week ago.

Evgeny
Bobryshev has taken a big step forward in his personal development as a
rider, earning his first career podium in the MX1 class in Glen Helen.
He will be looking to build on this newfound confidence and put himself
in the mix once again fo r the
top spots in Brazil, come race day on Sunday.

Rui Gonçalves currently sits one place ahead of teammate Bobryshev in the overall standings, in 6th
position. The Portuguese has shown good consistency in the opening
three rounds of the championship, finishing in and around the top five
in the overall classification each outing. So far a top three position
has eluded him but the season is long and he has already showed the
podium potential he posses on numerous occasions in the first three
rounds.

There is always a special party atmosphere surrounding the Brazil
leg of the championship and no doubt both Honda World Motocross riders
will be looking to join in with the celebrations come Sunday evening.

Rui Gonçalves, Honda World Motocross
“In
Glen Helen we tried a few new things with the bike and I feel we have
made a step forward with the set-up, which was already very good. It is
really going to be a new track for everybody but it is always good to
go to Brazil. It is a great country and the fans there are always
really passionate. Last year I had a good GP of Brazil but this is a
very different challenge I think. I am looking forward to it.”

Evgeny Bobryshev, Honda World Motocross
“I
have only seen pictures but the track looks good, it looks really fast
and has good ground so it is my kind of track. I feel like I have taken
a step forward wit h my
first podium but I need to keep my focus and take each round as it
comes and try and not get ahead of myself. The main thing is to keep
scoring good points and if this puts me in a position to challenge for
the top spots, this is good.”
