Ferris continues to lead

Dean Ferris has continued to extend
his championship lead despite a tougher than usual day for the Monster
Energy Kawasaki racer at Round 7 of the Australian National
Championship.

In the opening moto a poor start
left Ferris fighting hard to get into the top 10. Struggling to find a good
rhythm on the tight and one lined circuit Ferris ultimately crossed the
line in 9^th position.

Disappointed with the outcome of
moto 1 Ferris blasted out the gate in moto 2, only to be taken down by
another rider in the opening corners. Once again the young Australian found
himself having to come through the pack in limited time, finishing
9^th.

Making some set up changes Ferris
rocketed out the gate in the third moto as he chased Cooper. Lap after lap
Cooper and Ferris pushed for the lead, but in the end it was Cooper who
maintained his advantage with Ferris taking 2^nd
place.

The forth moto would see another
decent start for the 111 machine of Ferris as he rounded out the opening
lap in 4^th position, but a fall on the 2^nd lap
demoted Ferris back to 10^th and yet again left him fighting
back. At the end of the race Ferris crossed the line in 5^th
place, awarding him 5^th overall for the day.

Dean Ferris: “Today was not
great. In the opening 2 races the circuit was not so challenging and all
the guys were able to run a fast pace, this just made it really hard to get
back through from behind. The good news is that I was not the only one that
had a tough time and surprisingly I actually came away from this round with
a 14 point lead in the championship. With 2 rounds remaining my focus is to
maintain my lead and to push for some more race wins on some tracks I
really enjoy.”

Round 8 of the Australian Nationals
is scheduled to take place on the 24^th July at Moree
NSW.
