EnduroCross Moves to Oklahoma

Roud 2: Cowboys and Legends

ANAHEIM, Calif. (August 12, 2008) The AMA/Maxxis EnduroCross Championship Series, presented by Lucas Oil, will pick-up this weekend with Round 2 at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Okla. Just north of Oklahoma City , the championship round which runs in conjunction with the AMA EnduroCross Grand Championships - Regional Qualifier, promises to draw fans and local racers alike from throughout the region including, Oklahoma ’s own Tony Joiner, Freestyle and X-Games star, “Cowboy” Kenny Bartrum, along with motocross legend, Guy Cooper! In addition, Saturday’s event is the first of three designated events to be included in the GEICO Triple Crown, which offers an unbelievable $50,000 to the rider who can win Rounds 2, 5, & 6 ( Guthrie , Okla ; Columbus , Ohio ; Las Vegas Finale) of the championship!

Now in its second year, the Oklahoma event takes advantage of a larger venue floor and an abundance of dirt to create what will surely be one of the most exciting and extreme tracks of the year. Also, the event promises to continue the unbelievable racing action from Las Vegas’ Round 1, which fans around the world have been able to follow thanks to Lucas Oil and the Versus Network. The crew from the Lucas Motorsports Hour will again be ready to capture all the exciting racing action from Saturday night’s race, which will see some of the best off-road riders from around the world battle each other and the insanely technical track for the win.

To add to the drama of the championship, Round 1 winner and current points leader, Taddy Blazuziak, is undergoing facial surgery this week from damage resulting from a nasty crash over this past weekend at a WORCS event. Certainly the favorite to take the overall championship, the Polish trials sensation and reigning Erzburg Enduro champ has not ruled out competing in the event this weekend! With blood in the water, the rest of the talented field will certainly be in a frenzy to take advantage of Taddy’s misfortune. Currently sitting in second place in the points is 10-X US trials champ, Geoff Aaron, followed by WORCS series points leader, Ricky Dietrich.

“This year’s series is totally wide-open,” explains the sport’s originator, Eric Peronnard. “With the tremendously difficult tracks and all the talent that EnduroCross draws, it is simply anyone’s championship at this point!”

EnduroCross tracks incorporate various elements of Off-Road racing into a supercross-style setting, including rocks, boulders, logs, sand, mud, a water-hole… and even a few special obstacles like giant tires!
