East Coast Swing Begins for Pirelli Riders at High Point Raceway

ROME, Ga. (June 16, 2016) – The fourth round of the 2016 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship is set to kick off this Saturday, June 18 in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania for the 40th anniversary of the Red Bull High Point National. For the first time this season, riders will compete on East Coast soil, which is certain to bring new challenges for the each of the talented athletes, such as humid weather and soft-rutty track conditions. The Pirelli SCORPION™ MX32 front and rear tires are designed for optimum performance in soft-intermediate terrain, however, Pirelli’s complete tire lineup will be on hand to weather any storm that the riders may face.

Autotrader/Monster Energy/Yamaha’s Justin Barcia is one rider who is looking forward to the championship’s first stop on the East Coast this weekend. The New Yorker has been known to excel on the softer conditions and it should be expected that this year would be no different. Despite being unable to complete one of the motos at Glen Helen, he currently holds down ninth place in the 450MX championship standings. JGRMX teammate Phil Nicoletti suffered a hard crash at Lakewood in 450MX Moto 2, but he is healthy and looking forward to continuing the strong start to his season.

After suffering a hard crash while fighting for position just outside of the top-five at Glen Helen, Weston Peick will return to action in Mt. Morris this weekend. The JRGMX rider was cleared to begin practicing earlier in the week and is determined to get back in the mix.

BTO Sports/WPS/KTM’s Justin Brayton has progressed with each race of the season and many expect him to continue with the momentum this weekend as he enters a track where he has experienced success in the past. The veteran is confident in his ability to put in two strong moto finishes this weekend. Fellow BTO Sports rider Andrew Short started the season behind his fellow competitors as he recovered from injury, but the No.29 is no stranger to running near the front of the class, making it only a matter of time before he returns to top form.

A surprise in the 450MX Class this summer has been BTO Sports/WPS/KTM’s Benny Bloss, who is gaining valuable experience each weekend as a rookie on the professional circuit. He has battled with factory riders on a weekly basis, consistently running inside of the top-10. Keep your eye out for the rising star to knock on the door of his first top-10 overall finish.

In the 250MX Class, Motorcycle Superstore Racing will be out in full force at High Point, featuring a lineup that consists of veteran Jimmy Albertson, Kyle Cunningham, and rookie Josh Osby. Australian Luke Clout, riding for the MAD Racing/Dirt Candy Graphics/Suzuki team, will join the trio of Pirelli-supported riders as he prepares for his first-career race at High Point Raceway.

The opening motos from the Red Bull High Point National kick off on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 1pm ET and can be viewed on MAV TV, while 450 Moto 2 airs at 3pm ET on NBC and 250 Moto 2 at 4pm ET on NBC Sports. Check local listings for channel information.
