Dunlop Sponsored Team D Riders Impress at Second Annual Monster Energy Cup

Buffalo, NY: Team Dunlop riders—as well as Team Dunlop alumni—had an impressive showing at the second annual Monster Energy Cup at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, NV on October 20. Team Honda Muscle Milk rider and Team Dunlop alumni Justin Barcia won the event overall, while current Team Dunlop riders filled the amateur-class podiums.
Original Team Dunlop member Adam Cianciarulo raced a Kawasaki KX250F in the Amateur All-Stars class, grabbing the win in moto two and wrapping up second-place overall for the night. In moto one, Cianciarulo got a fourth place start and quickly began making his way towards the front. While sitting in third he went down but was able to recover and finish the race in fifth. Looking for redemption, Cianciarulo came out strong in moto two, seizing the holeshot and rapidly gapping the competition. He rode unchallenged the entire six-lap race to take the checkered flag by more than seven seconds to finish second overall with his 5-1 performance
In the Super Mini class it was Team Green Kawasaki’s Austin Forkner who stole the show aboard his Dunlop-equipped KX100 by sweeping both motos to take the overall win. After qualifying second fastest in practice behind Team Dunlop teammate Mark Worth, Forkner nailed down the holeshot in moto one and put together a commanding ride to take the win. Forkner launched off the line to a second place start in moto two and quickly began applying pressure on the leader until making the pass on lap four. He was the only racer at the Monster Energy Cup to sweep both motos for the overall win. Team Dunlop rider Chase Sexton wrapped up second overall with 3-4 scores and Worth—who had trouble in moto two—finished sixth overall with 4-13 finishes. Other Team Dunlop riders to compete in the high-profile race include Sean Cantrell finishing a respectable 12th with 17-7 scores, and Tanner Stack finishing 16th with 10-19 finishes.
Dunlop congratulates all Team Dunlop riders on their achievements at the 2012 Monster Energy Cup.
