Dunlop Press Release‹Dunlop Congratulates 2010 AMA Motocross Champions

Buffalo, NY
:

Dunlop Tire Company proudly extends its congratulations to the 2010
AMA Motocross Championship and AMA Women’s Motocross Championship (WMA)
winners: 450 Class Champion Ryan Dungey (Rockstar/Makita/Suzuki), 250
Class Champion Trey Canard (GEICO Powersports Honda) and Women’s
Motocross Champion Jessica Patterson (DNA/Shred Stix/Yamaha).

The 2010 season showcased some of the most exciting racing ever seen in
Motocross history. Dungey dominated the 450 competition, winning 10
overalls in his rookie season to surpass Ricky Carmichael’s rookie
point total; Dungey ended the season with 543 points, eight more than
Carmichael’s rookie record. In the 250 class the 2009 champion, Monster
Energy/Pro Circuit/ Kawasaki’s Christophe Pourcel, battled gamely all
season long as he captured the points lead early on and worked hard to
fend off Canard. However, the GEICO Powersports Honda racer made a
stupendous charge late in the season to capture his first-ever 250
Championship, capping it all off with a superior performance at the
last round. The battles were no less intense in the Women’s Motocross
campaign, where Patterson barely held off the defending champion, Honda
Red Bull Racing’s Ashley Fiolek, to take her sixth WMA title.

Dunlop outperformed all other tire brands in the series and achieved exceptional results all season long.

• Complete sweep of all overall wins this year: In every class, every overall winner rode on Dunlop tires.

• Dunlop riders comprised a remarkable 94 percent of the field among
riders who qualified to race each moto in the 250 and 450 classes.

• Dunlop fitment in the 250 Championship reached 100 percent of the
qualifying field at four rounds this year—Budds Creek Motocross,
Thunder Valley Motocross, Spring Creek Motocross and Steel City
Motocross events.

• The top 20 riders in the 250 championship were all on Dunlop tires.

• 19 of the Top 20 finishers in the 450 Championship and 17 of the Top 20 WMA finishers rode on Dunlop tires.

“Dunlop really stepped up its commitment to teams and riders
throughout the Motocross series this season and we are overwhelmed at
the level of teamwork we’ve enjoyed,” said Broc Glover, Senior Manager,
Motorcycle Off-Road. “Dunlop has a long history in the sport and we
really enjoyed supporting the teams and riders at every round. Gauging
by the results in all three pro series, it certainly seems clear that
the teamwork we shared worked out quite well for everyone. In addition
to the top 20 finishers in the 250 class, nine of the top 10 finishers
in both the 450 Class and Women’s Class rode Dunlop.”

The same tire technology these world-class pros put to such good use
can also be found in the new Geomax series of tires available to all
off-road riders. With all the top teams on Dunlop, the Geomax line of
tires are put to the test week after week on National racetracks across
America. The data gathered goes into further development of the entire
range of tires, which ultimately ends up benefiting enthusiasts and
racers around the world who are riding Dunlop Geomax.
