The AMA Motocross Championships rolled into the beautiful state of Washington to attend round nine at Washougal MX Park. Division 7/Star Racing/NCY/Yamaha comprised of Broc Tickle, Matt Lemoine, Jake Moss, and Wil Hahn came in with hopes of regaining their status of fixtures up front. Things proved to be tough, however bright moments did occur sporadically.

Taking top honors on this weekend would go to Moss, who is still searching to bring his total package together and match it up with the raw speed he holds. However, a bad start in moto one forced the rookie to pull himself up through the field. The task was accomplished, and he successfully piloted the #82 YZ 250f up to a 13th place finish. Moto two was much of the same, sitting 28th on lap one, Moss clawed his way through during the races entirety. By doing so, he took a 14th due to his determination and an overall of 13th to close this round out.

The next guy in line was Hahn, pushing forward all the while our Prodigy raced from a mid pack start in moto one to take a tally of 15th. After starting poorly due to hooking bars out of the gate, Hahn bounced back and netted 17th for a overall of 16th.

Bringing the almost super highlight to the outdoor campaign was Tickle, grabbing a third place start in moto one, #35 put the hammer down. After losing one spot to the series champion, Tickle showed his skills by holding 4th convincingly. With less than four laps to go, heart break struck, a preference of his to run a loose clutch cable caused him to make an error and stall the motorcycle. As he kicked, and kicked, the damage was insurmountable, seeing him fall back to a finish score of 33rd. Tickle’s moto two began well with him sitting 10th momentarily. Bad luck struck again as he was taken out during lap one, now finding himself in 35th, the talented youngster rode hard and got himself a little redemption. When the checkers were thrown, Tickle had reached 18th, and his exceptional riding earned him the hard charger award of the day. His moto scores tallied up to a 20th overall.

Having just plain horrible luck throughout the day was Lemoine, after riding up into the top ten in moto one, he was struck with some ignition troubles, ending his race prematurely. Moto two followed in close to same fashion, a mediocre start was backed up by a charge upwards once again. But, just as the halfway mark had been reached, Lemoine went and took a nasty get off which was the end of his day. Luckily, the tough Texan wound up being okay, and will be ready for the next go at racing.

Next race is Aug 16th & 17th: Millville MX park- Millville, MN
