May 1, 2010

Salt Lake City, UT - The AMA Lites West coast Supercross series finished up in Salt Lake City, Utah this past Saturday at Rice-Eccles Stadium before 38,882 fans. For DNA Shred Stix/Star Racing/Yamaha and #20 Broc Tickle, as well as #48 Max Anstie closing the series out with a strong finish had a high priority to say the least. By the end of the two practice sessions, Tickle and Anstie had established himself as a capable candidate for a run at the front of the field.

Tickle’s night of racing started out promising, when in Heat race #1 he was able to take his FMF supported ride up to 3rd quite convincingly allowing the confident rider to secure a good gate pick for the finale.

Slated into Heat #2, Anstie got to the first turn well up in the front of the field, only to be setback by a bobble which set the stage for an intense six lap charge to secure a transfer spot. Now back around 12th, the youngster put his head down; setting lap times that were much needed to elevate him inside the top nine. Fortunately, Anstie’s ever growing confidence helped the Yamaha pilot find 6th place by races end.

The main event took off with all of the hype; Anstie and Tickle were right in the mix from the drop of the gate. Lap one concluded, with Tickle holding down 9th, while Anstie who obtained a good start was forced to recover after getting tied up with a Tuff Block. For the next three laps Tickle remained in a forging forward assault, which moved him up to 7th. Near the halfway mark Tickle’s conditioning began to shine seeing him continue on with consistency, allowing him slide into 6th. Anstie, who was bouncing back from 18th in the same time, successfully took over 12th. From this point on, both Tickle and Anstie closed out the remainder of the race in quiet fashion, finishing out the night in 6th and 14th. There were plenty of highs on the west coast series season for both which was capped off with an upswing at Seattle. The final tally of points has Tickle finishing a career best 4th overall and in his rookie season Anstie claimed a strong 9th.

Star Racing thanks all these key backers for their quality service.
