EN-CA'> yes"> SEQ CHAPTER \h \r 1 lang=EN-CA style='mso-ansi-language:EN-CA'>The AMA Supercross Series
went off with a bang to a fan base exceeding 60,000 inside a newly designed
stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana this past Saturday night. Both classes had
their exciting moments on the track, with the series making its eastward swing.
DNA Shred Stix/ Star Racing/Yamaha came in and showcased their two East coast
contingents for the first time this season, #341 Nico Izzi and #577 Martin Davalos.
The day started out fairly well for the teammates as Izzi clocked in at 6th
and the determined Davalos set the 9th fastest Timed - Qualifying lap.

The gate dropped in Heat race #1, seeing Izzi jump out of
the gate well and hold the early lead. The intensity of the battling was at a
high, and unfortunately Izzi clipped a tough block which caused him to crash.
After getting remounted toward the rear of the field, Izzi made a valiant
attempt to qualify but 12th was all he could muster. Qualifying
hopes had been dashed, sending Izzi to the LCQ. Slated into Heat race #2,
Davalos rocketed out to the early lead and tried to settle in. Racing a little
tight, Davalos fell back to 4th. With only a few laps until the
finish, the FMF backed rider found a pace that eventually would bring him
closer to the leaders. This allowed Martin to dart forward maintaining 4th, and
more importantly avoid the LCQ. The LCQ got underway with Izzi safely up front,
where he cautiously rode on to a 2nd place finish which gave him a
spot in the twenty man field.

For the main event, both Yamaha pilots got decent starts,
especially Izzi after having to start from the far outside of the gate in hopes
of avoiding any misfortunes. Smart moves in the first few turns though allowed
both Davalos 8th, and Izzi 9th to be in contention.  Racing jittery, the teammates rode
wheel to wheel but had troubles making any gains. Through the entire race, both
Nico and Martin rode a consistent pace, hovering within 8th to 9th.
When the fifteen laps were up, Izzi secured 8th making well on a
tough night and his teammate Davalos took a frustrating 9th for his
tally.
