DNA Shred Stix/Star Racing/Yamaha - Dallas Supercross

March 20, 2010

Dallas,
Texas -

five of the AMA Supercross East coast Lites Series went off with a bang to a huge
fan base inside a newly designed stadium in the Dallas area this past Saturday
night. Both classes had their exciting moments on the track to say the least.
DNA Shred Stix/Star Racing/Yamaha had their hand in all the commotion, with #577
Martin Davalos putting on an inspiring performance throughout the night of
racing. To begin the day both teammates showed promise, as Davalos clocked in
at 3rd quickest in Timed-qualifying. Unfortunately, #341 Nico Izzi who
fractured part of his foot at the previous race, still went out and attempted
to ride practice, but after doing a few laps it was obvious he’d need some more
time to heal. Nico will be taking a few weeks off to get healthy, then plans to
race the last two east rounds.

Davalos came out in Heat #2 sitting around 7th
early on; some aggressive riding in the tight sections, and pure speed
catapulted him upward. Eventually Davalos moved his Yamaha to a finishing spot
of 2nd and in the process he reeled in the championship and race
leader by the races conclusion.

With the gate dropping for the Main Event, Davalos darted up
the inside and it looked like the holeshot might be his. However he was chopped
off from the outside, getting on the brakes hard was not enough as a massive
pileup ensued. With numerous riders down, including Davalos, the mad dash to
get going again took place. Riding with confidence, on the first lap Martin
moved into the 10th position and established himself as a rider on
the move. Riding strong as he had all day, he made considerable gains within
six laps as now Davalos sat 6th with plenty of time. Fighting off
repetitive attacks throughout the later portion of the race while going at it to
keep holding the 5th spot. The relentless Star rider rode to the
rear wheel of the competitor ahead and put on the pressure. With only a few laps
to go, Davalos refused to settle and was vying to obtain 4th, doing
just that he would go on to finish there for a personal season best.
