DNA Shred Stix/Star Racing/Yamaha - Budds Creek MX

Mechanicville,
MD.

(June 18, 2011) The AMA MX National Series headed to the far east of
the country visiting Budd’s Creek MX Park in Maryland. DNA Shred
Stix/Star Racing/Yamaha rolled in with high hopes of #35 Kyle
Cunningham, #387 Gareth Swanepoel, #533 Gannon Audette, and #76 Kyle
Partridge who is racing the 450 class of obtaining a placing high up
the overall rankings. Track conditions were pristine, yet still rough
with the weather being very nice and hot.

Taking
top honors of the team and having a rather consistent day was
Swanepoel. When moto one got underway, Swanepoel sat just outside the
top ten in 15th.
Some quick moves allowed the Yamaha pilot to forge up to 12th,
where he then fluctuated up and down slightly for most the race. In
the closing stages, Swanepoel put his great fitness to use and
secured 9th
as his finishing position and then prepared for the second moto. Race
number two for Swanepoel began with a stellar 4th
place start. As the moto progressed, the South African native rode
aggressively, raising his status to 3rd
halfway in, and even close to acquiring 2nd
briefly. A small bobble resulted in a slight move backwards, never
willing to settle Swanepoel bounced back to capture 4th
in the moto and just off the wheels of 3rd.

Next
in line on the day would be Cunningham, after a strong start to the
weekend. Cunningham’s moto one showed great promise after a 4th
place start. Lap by lap, the FMF backed rider inched his way into the
hunt and mixed it up, very convincingly he took a well deserved 4th.
An eventful moto two saw a very ill Cunningham start 15th,
and from there he tried his best to remain competitive. However, the
resilient Cunningham couldn’t muster anything up aboard his machine
in 15th
and pushed to make it a positive race day which ended with him in the
same position.

Having
a solid outing and a decent second part to his day by making a
breakthrough was Audette.
Beginning moto one in 8th,
Audette
raced the entire duration amidst heavy battling, going on to finish
12th.
Starting moto two with the holeshot, before filing into 2nd,
Audette then moved back into 5th
on lap three as he had trouble adapting to the pace. Riding at his
potential Gannon fought off attacks and hung tough, all the while
small mental lapses caused #533 to fall back. Audette
went on to finish 11th.

Also
Kyle Partridge, our 450F pilot had trying day but forged on, putting
two moto’s together going 22 – 32 for 29th
overall.
