Press Release

DMXS 5/2/07

Roger Decoster has suffered through the lean times during his decade with Team Suzuki but was rewarded for his perseverance with two amazing years with Ricky Carmichael at the point of the spear. RC has decided to pull the band-aid off slowly and contend a partial schedule in 2007 which is bitter sweet for the Suzuki’s patriarch and the team. Roger was very transparent about his wishes for RC to race one more full season and held out hope til the bitter end, but it was not to be. We will talk with "The Man" as he prepares for the next chapter in Suzuki’s story as they move to fill the void left by The Greatest of All Time.

Nick Wey was having a great season with three top fives, and a podium before involuntarily rearranging his thumb at Houston. (Insert the very obvious, "Houston, we have a problem" joke here) It seemed that Nick might not need surgery, but the injury was more severe than first thought and the rest of the SX season was lost for the popular Michigan native. The silver lining to the devastating news was that his beautiful newborn daughter had daddy home for a few weekends. Nick is looking to return at Hangtown ready to play in the dirt again and will fill us in on his progress tonight.

Kawasaki Team Green’s Austin Stroupe is tearing up the amateur scene so far this year as he prepares to turn pro after Loretta Lynn’s. Mitch Payton mentioned on the show last week that he has his eye on Austin, and that is a good radar to be on. Stroupe will join us from somewhere on the road tonight as his family makes the familiar MX pilgrimage from Texas to California once again.

Toyota has become the benchmark sponsor for our sport and continues to make strides to improve their involvement at every level. The TMX Toyota Athlete Program was successful in its inaugural year and has gained much deserved notoriety and momentum for 2007. The TMX Program is not just for the top-guns going pro, but has support for every level of riders all over the country. You can check out www.Ridetmx.com for details and sign-up information. We are pleased to welcome Rob Beams from Motoendurance.net, an athletic training facility in Orlando, Florida. Rob is the trainer/coach for the Toyota TMX Program and their riders and will explain how you can get some free advice through Toyota’s grassroots program. Motosport Kawasaki’s Kyle Chisholm had a top ten at Anaheim 1, but suffered a severe injury that sidelined him for the rest of the season. He is a Toyota-sponsored rider and will join us with an update on when he plans to return. Also, Mike Picone will stop by and fill us in on how his LL qualifiers and nationals have gone so far in 2007. The well-known amateur rider is trying to make his mark in a crowded field of top riders and we wanted to show him some love.

We are sad to see Brittney George step down from her rein as Miss Supercross, and wish her the best in the future. She did a wonderful job representing our sport and her smile and wonderful personality will be missed at the races. The final three Miss Supercross finalists are ready for their opportunity to fill her shoes as the winner will be determined by the fans at the Las Vegas Supercross. We will welcome on Leticia Cline, Erica Halbrook, and Sara Lipert this evening so fans can learn a bit more about these lovely ladies. Unfortunately, Chelsey Buhler had to step down because of her obligations and scheduling conflict as a dancer for the Detroit Pistons. They have a playoff game this Saturday, so Erica Halbrook with the next number of votes was chosen to replace her. Check out www.supercross.cc.com for pictures and more information on the finalists.

The best fantasy league game in the sport is MotoXdream, and Steve Flanders is ramping up some great sponsors and prizes for the outdoors. Check out www.motoxdream.com for details and sign up as a Team Manager to take on the best bench racers and know-it-all’s around.

Don’t forget to listen to the silky voices of Jason Weigandt and Jim Holley on the Supercross web cast, or check it out the Las Vegas Supercross LIVE ON SPEED!
