Christophe Pourcel Injury Update

Coming back in Europe this week after his injury contracted in Ahaheim last weekend, during the third race of his winter program, Christophe Pourcel will have to rest a few weeks at home.

Just after his arrival in Marseille, Christophe moved to Aix en Provence and met Olivier Dufour, the famous ostheopath who take care of numerous French sportsmen. Christophe had another examination to clarify the situation. “Chris had a radio and then a scanner in Aix. Both confirmed that his right tibia was not broken, but damaged in his lower part with a crack in the bone. Fortunately the bone didn’t moved and the ligaments are not damaged,” explained his father Roger. “Doctor Dufour put a splint that he will keep for a few weeks, and of course Christophe can’t train and must stay quiet. May be he will be able to go swimming later. Olivier told him that he will have to rest for six weeks, and of course he will check carefully the injury,” said the father of the MX2 World Champion.

After his successfull results in the United States, with a second position in Anaheim and a win in Phoenix, Christophe had an opportunity to battle for the title but was stopped by this injury. “He had a bad start in the main and didn’t took any risks, but when he landed after a jump he felt pain in his leg, without crashing. In fact he was not at his best level, with an injection before the race as he broke one finger earlier in the week. He was testing when he damaged his chain guide, and then the chain went off in the whoops section,” continued his father who wants to give more details about this season. “Some magazines and websites wrote that Christophe was not sure to come back in Europe this season, after his good results in the US. That’s not correct, as people who know Christophe can imagine. His main goal for 2007 is the MX2 World Championship, and he always wanted to respect the contract that he signed with Kawasaki and the GPKR team. In fact Japan asked him if he would agree to race the entire West Coast series if he was a title contender, and there was no conflicts between this serie and the Grand Prix calendar. The final round is scheduled between the GP of Portugal and Italy, and that was possible to race on both continents. Now theres’s no more questions, but it was necessary to correct those informations.”
