Chad Reed Maintains Championship Point Lead

Nathan Ramsey Rounds Out Top Five


ROUND 8 – ATLANTA, GA – GEORGIA DOME – FEBRUARY 23RD


ANAHEIM, CA (February 24, 2008) –  The Supercross season’s largest crowd to date, 67,429 arrived at Georgia Dome to see the non-stop action that was round eight of the 2008 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series. Team San Manuel’s Nathan Ramsey, continuing to season best at each stop of the series, took a fifth place finish while team mate and series championship points leader, Chad Reed, took sixth place.


Ramsey took a second place spot in the last chance qualifier for the transfer to the main event, while Reed won his heat race, with a 51.199 lap time, for the direct transfer to the main.


During Atlanta’s main event, series points leader Reed grabbed the holeshot taking the $1,500 Progressive Hole Shot Award with Ramsey following closely in third.  Ramsey ran a great race, holding off most of the field to take a hard-earned fifth place finish.


On lap six, while running in first place, Reed crashed and remounted in 11th. Battling the tight pack, Reed managed on to take over 5 spots to finish in sixth.  Reed still maintains the overall championship points lead, with 184 points.


Television programming note:  the AMA Supercross class race airs on CBS Sports Sunday, February 24th at Noon EST and 9:00 AM PST.


The AMA Supercross series continues with Round 9 on March 1st at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, IN.

Chad Reed: First place in Heat Race#2, direct transfer to the main.

Nathan Ramsey: Second place in LCQ, transfer to the main.        

Chad Reed: Sixth place Supercross Main Event.

         Series to date: 5 wins; 2 second place; 1 sixth place finish.

Nathan Ramsey: Fifth in Supercross Main Event.

           Series to date:  1 fifth; 1 sixth; 3 seventh; 1 eighth; 1 eleventh; 1 sixteenth finish.

Chad Reed: Supercross Championship points leader with 184 points.

Nathan Ramsey: Sixth in Supercross Championship points with 101 points.
