Bowers Makes Early-Season Statement with Third Consecutive Victory in Baltimore Sweep 1

Tyler Bright Gives Foremost Insurance Suzuki Arenacross Lites Sweep

BALTIMORE, Md. (January 16, 2010) – Four races and two rounds into the 2010 AMA Arenacross Series and Babbitt’s Monster Energy/Ti Lube Kawasaki’s Tyler Bowers, of Danville, Ky., is making it clear that the path to the premier AMA Arenacross class championship will go through him. Bowers raced to his third straight victory Saturday night in Baltimore’s 1st Mariner Arena, giving him a sweep of the weekend. Foremost Insurance Suzuki’s Tyler Bright, of Lexington, N.C., captured the AMA Arenacross Lites victory, giving his team a sweep of the class in Baltimore.

While Bowers came up just short of the AMA Arenacross class holeshot, he quickly made his way to the front of the field and dominated the 25-lap main. Since his return to the AMA Arenacross Series, Bowers has won four of the five races he’s competed and currently holds a 16-point advantage over his teammate Chad Johnson, of Rhinelander, Wis., the only other rider to capture a win so far this season. Spinechillers/Storm Lake Honda’s Nathan Skaggs, of Chillicothe, Ohio, captured his second runner-up finish in a row while Johnson finished third.

In the AMA Arenacross Lites class, Bright came out of the gates in the main event and almost immediately found himself out front. His teammate Jim Neese, of Julian, N.C., took the win on Friday night and ended the weekend with another podium finish in third. GPF/Babbitt’s Kawasaki’s A.J. Catanzaro, of Middlefield, Conn., finished second for his best career finish in a young rookie season.

The AMA Arenacross Series continues next weekend from Hampton, Va. and the Hampton Coliseum, January 22-24. Racing on Friday and Saturday night kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET.
