Geoff Aaron and Mike Brown kept it close and finished second and third!
Denver, CO (October 1, 2011) – Taddy
Blazusiak is a machine on a motorcycle and rode his KTM 350 to another
win at the Denver round of the GEICO AMA EnduroCross, presented by Lucas
Oil. Geoff Aaron and Mike Brown made Blazusiak earn it with Brown even
passing him for the lead at one point before giving it back. Aaron took
over second when Brown had a spectacular crash but recovered to finish
third.
Blazusiak
got the day started by setting the fastest time during the Hot Laps,
which puts the riders on the track one at a time for a single lap
against the clock. GEICO Honda’s Aaron finished second followed by Lucas
Oil/Rockstar backed Colton Haaker.
Blazusiak,
Beta’s Cody Webb and Haaker each won their respective heat races to
take get the best picks for the main event. Webb and Aaron had a great
battle for the win in heat two and most of the qualifying races had
great action.
Aaron
and Brown got aggressive on the final start of the night to push
Blazusiak to third but then the Polish rider launched past both of them
to take the lead through one of the difficult rock sections and seemed
ready to take off. Brown and Aaron stayed close and on lap three,
Blazusiak crashed in the Matrix, which is a difficult section of closely
spaced logs and Brown took over the lead. Brown held the position for
over a lap but then gave it up to Blazusiak but still stayed close.
Brown then crashed in the Matrix and allowed Aaron to get by. Webb also
challenged Brown for third for a few laps before losing touch and
finished fourth just ahead of GEICO Honda’s Kyle Redmond and Monster
Kawasaki’s Justin Soule, who was fighting back from a derailed chain.
Stillwell Performance backed Kevin Rookstook finished seventh ahead of
Colton Haaker, Bobby Prochnau and Kyle Calderini. Gary Sutherlin
finished 11th after running as high as fifth but a bike problem dropped
him from contention near the end of the main.
In
addition to the Expert class, EnduroCross events include Open Amateur,
Vet 35+ and TrialsCross classes. The top two finishers in each class
also earn a spot in the Vegas Grand Championship Finals for each
respective class. The Vet class was won by Kurt Nichol over Scott
Forrest and Josh Budimlya. The Amateur class was won by Eric Rhoten who
finished ahead of Max Gerston and Keith Curtis. The TrialsCross class
was won by Joey Hamilton over Steven Deines and Shad Petersen.
