Beta Racing Update

PASO
ROBLES, CA (August 3, 2011) - Factory Beta racers Chris Bach and Cody
Webb had an up and down weekend with mixed results. Competing in
separate events, the two continue to show the world that Beta is here to
stay. Chris Bach competed in the Parts Unlimited OMA national this past
weekend in Millville, MN while Webb raced the Enduro X portion of
ESPN's X Games 17.

Bach
raced his Factory 450 RR to a 3rd place finish. The GNCC regular is
using the OMA events to help keep him sharp for the remaining GNCC
events which start back up the second week of September. The race proved
to be muddy and hot at the same time as the heat wave continues.

"
I had a good start and was able to use the mx track to my advantage on
lap one and get into the woods behind Whibley. I paced Paul for two laps
learning as much as I could about the course while also trying to pick
spots to make a challenge for the lead. With temps high and humidity
higher, my choice to wear a tee shirt and a chest protector proved to be
not a good one. On lap three I encountered some issues with the heat,
and instead of risking serious health issues, I came into pits and took
off all my under gear, then went back out with just my jersey on. I
dropped to 3rd, and after cooling down I was able to bridge the 45 sec
gap back up to 2nd place on the final lap. However, Ashburn rode a very
smart last lap, covering his lines and shutting my pass attempts down."
Bach explains.

Webb
started his season of the Geico Powersports Endurocross series leaving
Los Angeles with some valuable points. The event was held at the ESPN
X-Games for the first time. A total of 30 invited Pro riders were cut
down to only 10 for the main event. There were three heat races with
only two making it directly into the main. Two LCQ races would take the
final four. Webb suffered poor starts and found himself working hard to
get to the front.

In his
heat race, which was stacked with talent, Webb fell over in the first
turn, leaving him in dead last. He immediately worked his way through
traffic and put his Beta 350 RR into third place! However, he was not
able to make the pass for the direct transfer and had to go to the
LCQ. With many top riders not making it out of the heat races the
LCQ was also packed with talent. Webb again struggled on the start and
had to work extra hard blowing through the pack eventually finishing
second behind the 2010 Endurocross champion Taddy Blazusiak and
transferring to the main event.
Webb started from the very
outside in the main and came around the first corner in 8th. After a
couple laps, the Californian had worked his way up to third battling
with Blazusiak for the position. Webb made a couple of mistakes and fell
back a few positions to end the race in 8th.

"I
was really happy to make it to the main as they only took ten of us.
My 350 was working awesome and I felt confident at the start of the
main. Being a live TV show, they didn't give us much time between the
races so I was a little tired after the LCQ. It was a good start to the
season for sure and I am looking forward to Round 2 in Washington." Webb
