Press Release

Ben Grabham injury update following Condo 750

HSE Motorex
KTM team rider Ben Grabham is currently recovering in Sydney’s
Westmead Hospital after sustaining a series of injuries in an incident
while leading the Condo 750 over the Easter long weekend.

The
Australian desert racing legend had just taken over the lead of the race on
day two of competition in the historic race at Condobolin, but crashed
after making contact at approximately 160km/h with a pack of kangaroos
crossing the course.

Bathurst-based Grabham was airlifted to
hospital in Orange before being flown to Westmead, where he’s
expected to remain until next week when it’s forecast he’ll be
permitted to return home.

Grabham suffered fractured vertebrae
in the T4-T9 region, as well as fractures to his right radius and
collarbone. Surgery in Westmead has been successfully carried out on his
arm and collarbone, the process of his rehabilitation closely monitored by
team trainer Tim Cole.

It is anticipated that Grabham will make
a full recovery from his injuries, however a minimum of three months will
be spent on the sidelines, forcing him out of his Finke Desert Race title
defence in the Northern Territory on 9-11 June.

Grabham will
also miss the upcoming KTM-sponsored
Hattah
Desert Race, which is slated for Mildura in Victoria on 7-9 July. His
return date is still yet to be determined, depending on his recovery
rate.

KTM Australia and the HSE Motorex KTM team extend their
very best well wishes to Ben for a speedy recovery and look forward to his
return when he regains fitness.
