Bel-Ray Race Report-Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series Round 2-Phoenix Arizona

Round 2 of the Monster Energy Supercross series took Phoenix, Arizona by storm
on Saturday night and Bel-Ray was once again in full force. The Bel-Ray backed,
Two Two Motorsports and Dodge Motorsports Hart & Huntington racing teams
proved their professionalism and speed in another successful evening of racing.

All 3 team riders qualified in the top 20 in early afternoon qualifying
practice. Dodge Motorsports Hart & Huntington team racer, Ivan Tedesco was
4th with a 49.707 second time, Two Two Motorsports’ Chad Reed was 11th
with a 50.028, and  Dodge Motorsports Hart & Huntington’s other
team racer, Chris Blose was 20th with a 51.885 second lap. With the top 20
separated by 3 seconds, the racing action was going to be close.

Both Tedesco and Blose were lined up in the first heat. Tedesco got off the
line well and was in second early in the race; Blose, who suffered a mid-pack
start, was working torward a qualifying position. By the end of the heat,
Tedesco had dropped back to third, a great qualifying spot in the main event,
while Blose could do no better than 10th (he was then forced to ride the LCQ in
order to make the night program).

The second heat saw Reed get a third place start behind James Stewart and
Austin Stroupe. Then, Stewart went down and Reed set off to get by Stroupe. He
would make the pass and go on for the heat race win, the first for Bel-Ray and
Two Two Motorsports this season.

Blose got off to a better start in the LCQ and was running fourth early. But
with only 2 riders making the main event, he made his move forward. With an
aggressive last lap pass, the Arizona native would secure second in the LCQ and
the last spot into the main event.

For the second week in a row, all 3 Bel-Ray backed racers would make the main
event.

With competition closer this season than ever before, the main event went to
the line. Reed and Tedesco got off the line mid pack and at the end of lap #1
Reed was 8th, Tedesco 10th and Blose 19th. Reed locked himself into a battle
with the defending series champion, Ryan Dungey and the two riders began
working through the pack.  Tedesco was making a charge as well, until the
slippery track reached up and bit him, washing his front wheel out in a corner.
By the end of the 20 lap main, Reed had a great finish in 4th, with Tedesco
14th and Blose 15th.

Reed now sits in 5th in the series points standings, with Tedesco just inside
the top 10 in 9th.
