Barry Higgins to Receive Special Honor at Unadilla Motocross

Press Release

New Berlin, NY – The legendary Barry Higgins will receive special recognition for his contribution to the sport of motocross at the eleventh round of the Lucas Oil MX Sports Motocross Championship on Saturday August 15, 2009.

Higgins, a multi-time National and World off-road and motocross Champion, won the first motocross national held at the Unadilla Motocross Park in 1969. Higgins, and other veteran riders, will be honored at the event for their contribution to the sport of motocross as well as their racing success.

In addition to his success on the track, Higgins also owned a successful KTM dealership for 28 years near Atlanta, GA. In 2003, Higgins began full-time work for KTM North America, Inc. Over the past 6 years he has helped many KTM amateur riders move up through the ranks with his involvement in the KTM amateur support program and the KTM Junior Supercross Challenge Program.

“Barry Higgins is definitely an asset to KTM,” remarked KTM President Jon-Erik Burleson. “Barry has extensive knowledge in regards to racing as well as technical expertise that allows him to excel as a mechanic. What’s most notable with Barry is he is still out at the track every week. His age won’t slow him down – he still rips on a motocross track and he has never lost his passion for the sport.”
