Patterson started off the AMA / WMA series with a bang, grabbing the holeshot in Moto One on Saturday. She had an eight second lead by the third lap, but then she ran in to some trouble. “I came off of a big table top and went to get into my line for the next corner and my front wheel washed out”, Jessica said after the race. “ I got up and ran to my bike so I could hopefully keep it running, and as soon as I got to it, it shut off. By the time I got it started back up, I was in 22nd place.” Patterson, known as the fiercest competitor on the WMA circuit, rode hard the remainder of the race, and ended up 8th.
On Sunday in Moto Two, in front of an enormous crowd, Patterson showed the motocross fans and her fellow competitors why her Bad Boy Power Drink - Honda of Houston - Fox Racing bike sports the #1 plate. “The gate dropped and I was second right behind Fiolek. I made a pass on her right away and knew I had to put my head down and ride my race”, said Patterson. She stayed out front for the rest of the moto, ending up on top of the podium for Moto Two. Patterson went 8-1 for the weekend, for second over-all at the Hangtown Classic.
