Bad Boy AX Rider Still The Man To Beat

Chad Johnson, riding # 10 for the Bad Boy Power Drink Honda TUF Racing Team, has an eight point lead in the AX division in the 2008 Toyota AMA Arenacross Series after an impressive showing last weekend. Johnson ended up on the podium on Friday and Saturday night, January 11th and 12th, at the 1st Mariner Arena, located in the historic inner harbor in Baltimore, Maryland.

On Friday night, Johnson got a bad start and had to ride hard to catch up to the leaders. By the half way mark Johnson had passed # 4 Kevin Johnson and was challenging # 18 Brock Sellards, who rode for Team Bad Boy in the AMA SX series in 2007. Bad Boy Johnson set Sellards up on the Toyota Catapult and passed him on the start straight. Johnson then went after the leader, # 33 Kelly Smith. Smith held him off just long enough to win, with Chad Johnson taking second place for the Bad Boy Power Drink Honda TUF Racing Team.

On Saturday night, Chad Johnson wasn't ready to settle for second place. Johnson # 10 and # 4 Kevin Johnson kept the near capacity crowd on the edge of their seat for most of the main event until # 4 got tangled in a tuff block and # 10 Johnson was able to pass for the lead and his third win of the season.

#1 Danny Smith, the defending Toyota AMA Arenacross Series Champion, also rides for the Bad Boy Power Drink Honda TUF Racing Team. Smith is currently seventh in points in the AX division. Rounding out the team is # 74 Ivo Stenbergs, the # 1 rider from Latvia, making his debut in the AX series.

The Bad Boy Power Drink Honda TUF Racing Team heads to Dayton, Ohio this weekend for the next round of the 2008 Toyota AMA Arenacross Series.
