AMA Arenacross Series Returns to Kansas City’s Kemper Arena

AURORA, Ill. (January 27, 2010) – As Babbitt’s Monster Energy/TiLube Kawasaki’s Tyler Bowers continues to stake claim towards the 2010 AMA Arenacross Series title, the schedule heads to the Midwest for the first time this season at Kansas City’s Kemper Arena for an exciting Saturday-night showcase. This weekend’s marks the first AMA Arenacross Series at the legendary arena since 2008.

Last weekend, the AMA Arenacross class points leader extended his winning streak to five races and swept his second consecutive weekend of action from the Hampton Coliseum. Just three rounds into the 12-race season, Bowers holds a 24-point advantage over teammate Chad Johnson.

A talented, hungry field of the world’s top arenacross competitors will battle bar-to-bar for a chance at glory and the opportunity to stop Bowers’ dominating streak.

At the AMA Arenacross Series’ last visit to Kemper Arena in January of 2008, regional legend Teddy Maier took the victory, edging out current front-runner Nathan Skaggs and fellow Iowa native Kurt McCabe for the win.

The AMA Arenacross Lites Eastern Regional championship reached its halfway point last weekend and Virginia native Devon Pilkington made his move to the top of the standings, tying previous points leader Tyler Bright in front of his hometown crowd while American Honda’s Taylor Futrell and Reynard Mods Kawasaki’s Cory Green grabbed the weekend’s victories.

This weekend’s race marks the opening round of the 2010 AMA Arenacross Lites Western Regional championship. At Kemper Arena in 2008, Travis Bannister claimed the AMA Arenacross Lites win while Dennis Jonon and McCabe completed the podium.
