AMA Arenacross Notebook: Bowers and Demuth Trading Momentum

AX
Babbitt’s Duo Stay Stagnant Atop the Standings
After
Trading Wins in Reno

AURORA, Ill.
(March 12, 2010) – Only three rounds
remain in the 2010 AMA Arenacross Series and this weekend, Babbitt’s
Monster
Energy/TiLUBE Kawasaki teammates Tyler Bowers and Josh Demuth will
resume their
battle atop the point standings from Council Bluffs, Iowa’s Mid America
Center
over the course of two nights of action. As the races wind down, the
pair is
engaged in a back-and-forth battle, trading victories and grabbing
podiums
during the homestretch.

Bowers is
the man to beat, leading his
teammate by 17 points with five races to go. Additionally, he boasts a
series-high eight victories which has proven to be the edge in the
standings.
While Demuth’s four wins have kept him in the thick of the title fight,
it is
his performance over the last month of the season that has ignited the
season-ending showdown between he and Bowers.

Demuth has
been the hottest rider in the
series and continued to prove it last weekend in Reno, capturing the win
on
Friday night
and posting a runner-up finish on Saturday. However,
Bowers
answered the call, achieving the same results. Consequently, the top of
the
standings stayed stagnant. The challenge for Bowers over the next three
weeks
will be to keep Demuth’s advances at bay. The two time AMA Arenacross
Series
champion doesn’t appear to be slowing down and should Bowers experience
any
misfortune, there is a good chance Demuth will be the first to take
advantage
of it.

The
showdown will continue this weekend from
the Mid America Center and you can assure that despite the comfortable
advantage,
Bowers will give it his all in an effort to make it clear that there was
never
a doubt as to who the rider to beat in 2010 was. If the Kentucky native
was to
finish on the podium for the rest of the season, a task well within
reach for
Bowers, he would make it tough on Demuth to make a move unless he won
each of
the five remaining races. But with eight wins to his credit already this
season, Bowers is more interested in making a clean sweep of the rest of
the
year and bringing the total to lucky number 13.

In the AMA
Arenacross Lites Western Regional
Championship, GPF/Babbitt’s Kawasaki’s A.J. Catanzaro is slowly becoming
an AMA
Arenacross Series star. In Reno, Catanzaro showcased the most dominating
AMA
Arenacross Lites class performance of the season. The rookie competitor
grabbed
the holeshot on both Friday and Saturday night and went on to lead all 36
total
laps in the pair of main events. By virtue of his stellar outing,
Catanzaro now
holds a 25-point advantage over Cory Green in the Western Region and
with the
penultimate round commencing this weekend in Council Bluffs, another
strong
weekend will make him a virtual lock to the title.

The Mid
America Center sits just across the
Missouri River from the city of Omaha. It serves as part of the
convention
center complex for the city of Council Bluffs and is the primary home of
the
Iowa Blackhawks of the American Professional Football League. Along with
the
prequel race in Des Moines, this is the AMA Arenacross Series’ second
visit to
the state of Iowa during the current race season.

The first
gates drop on the Council Bluffs
Arenacross this Friday at
7:00 p.m
., followed by an additional night of
bar-to-bar racing on
Saturday at 7:00 p.m
. Amateur Day concludes an exciting
weekend of action on
Sunday
, beginning at 10 a.m.
