Livingston, CA (January 20, 2015) - The 51FIFY Energy Drink Yamaha team and the #981 of Austin Politelli had the throttle open as round 3 of the Supercross season rolled into Anaheim.
In the Heat race, Austin got a midpack start but tangling with another rider left the #981 on the ground. Austin remounted and charged forward but was unable to finish in a qualifying spot and would need to race the LCQ.
A bad gate pick from the LCQ left Austin on the far outside for the main. The outside gate caused Austin to be pushed wide going into the first corner. While some riders bumped and pushed their way around the first few laps, Austin played it cool and was able to make smart and calculated passes.
As the laps wore down, Austin maintained a charge through the field crossing the line in 14th."In Supercross, there are obstacles to overcome throughout the day," said Team Mechanic Scott Stewart. "This week we were forced to ride the LCQ, but it was good to be up front and win regardless. I think we are faster than the results show and expect to be up there at Oakland next week."
In another team newsworthy note; Team Manager Craig Monty watched with pride as his son Myles nearly won the KTM JR Challenge coming up inches short to finish 2nd. Monty's wife, Cassi, was the mechanic and only female behind the gate; a true family experience Living the Madness together.
