Press Release

2011 AMA Arenacross Series Season Kicks off Saturday at Tulsa’s BOK Center

Team Babbitt’s Ready to Take on All Challengers

AURORA, Ill.
(January 7, 2011) – Nine months of testing, training and endless
practice laps have led to this point as the AMA Arenacross Series
season prepares to commence the 2011 season on Saturday from the BOK
Center in Tulsa, Okla.

The
world’s best arenacross riders will vie for an open crown in the
headlining Arenacross class as defending champion Josh Demuth suffered
a season-ending injury prior to the start of the championship. As a
result, series stalwarts like Chad Johnson, Tyler Bowers, Jeff Gibson,
Nathan Skaggs and more are ready to put in their bids to assume
possession of the coveted number one plate.

Based
on last season’s results, the Babbitt’s Monster Energy/TiLube Kawasaki
presented by Maxxis team will be the standard bearers throughout the
14-race season. After capturing all but one victory in 2010, the lineup
will be headed by Johnson and Bowers who will take over for their
fallen teammate in Demuth. Joining the potent roster in place of Demuth
is longtime competitor Gray Davenport who will look take advantage of
his opportunity and experience a breakthrough season.

Despite
Babbitt’s past dominance, nothing is a sure thing in the AMA Arenacross
Series, which has become known as one of the most unpredictable forms
of motor sport in the world. On any given night, a surprise winner can
prevail as all the competitors in the series are within close proximity
to one another when it comes to speed. Consistency is key and in the
end, will ultimately prove to be the deciding factor in who walks away
the champion.

As
a result, the Babbitt’s pair’s biggest threats are eager for the gates
the drop and optimistic about their chances to come out on top. The
2011 championship is wide open and as a result, there is more
excitement surrounding the season than in recent memory.

Last
season in Tulsa, Bowers stood atop the rest, grabbing his sixth victory
of the year and fully asserting himself as the rider to beat in the
series. His performances last season have put him on the top of many
critics lists heading into the championship and after suffering a
season-ending injury prior to the end of the season and losing his
chance at the title, his ability to bounce back will be a major
storyline.

In
addition to the high-octane action that will be produced by the
Arenacross class, the Arenacross Lites Eastern Regional Championship
will also kick off its chase to the championship. As a stage for the
youngest stars of arenacross to shine, the on-track competition is sure
to showcase bar-banging highlights for the thousands in attendance.

championship. It’s state-of-the-art architecture is a welcome sight to
fans and riders alike.
