Press Release

2010 Brazilian Motocross Grand Prix to be hosted at Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul

FUNCHAL (PORTUGAL), 2 February 2010 – After a successful South American comeback to Brazil in 2009 at Canelinha, the FIM Motocross World Championship will head back to the country in August 21/22 2010 but to a different venue, Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul. The choice followed an agreement between Youthstream and Bracco International and found the full support of the local authorities including the Governor of Mato Grosso do Sul, Mr. André Puccinelli.

Youthstream inked an agreement with Bracco International until 2014, finding a very good partner to secure the FIM Motocross World Championship’s future in South America and especially Brazil.

A brand new race track is being built in Campo Grande, a modern city located in a central part of South America which benefits of dry weather in August.

The state of Mato Grosso do Sul, the municipality of Campo Grande and the Federation of Mato Grosso do Sul have all handed their full support to the FIM Motocross GP do Brasil.

At head of the table is Governor of Mato Grosso do Sul, Mr. André Puccinelli. Giuseppe Luongo, the President of Youthstream, stated: “After the great success in Canelinha last year, we are very happy to continue our development of the FIM Motocross World Championship in Brazil, we have signed a long term agreement with Bracco Internacional where its CEO, Mr. Federico Carli, knows very well the Brazilian market. The choice of the region is linked to the support of the government, the weather conditions and it is a great motorcycle area. We want to thank the Governor of Mato Grosso do Sul, Mr. André Puccinelli, for his support and for believing in our sport. We really believe it will be another success, even bigger than last year and we invite all the Latin American fans to come to assist this great GP do Brasil.”

Dr. Wolfgang Srb, the President of FIM/CMS, continued: “It is very important for the FIM Motocross World Championship that events are staged worldwide. Brazil is a country with a long history in motorsports, with great fans as well as with a fast growing economy and also an important market for the manufacturers. I am very happy that a long term agreement has been signed and I am looking forward to an outstanding festival of Motocross in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul.”

Federico Carli, the CEO of Bracco Internacional, ended: “After some years of cooperation, I am pleased to establish this strong and comprehensive partnership with Youthstream, a reliable company made of serious professionals with a clear vision of the future. We have ambitious goals to be achieved together. I am sure that Youthstream and Bracco Internacional will be able to make our wonderful sport grow in South America and that South America will be a constant presence in the World Championship calendar from now onwards: indeed we are looking forward to having a minimum of two GP per year in the continent since 2011.

“People in South America are passionate about Motocross, therefore there are great expectations about the World Championship. We have the ambition to organize world-class events – both, top circuits and top infrastructures – in order to make the pilots, the teams, the public, the sponsors, the host cities and the media happy with our sport: in the end, this process will lead to a general improvement of the South American technical standards since the local pilots will have the opportunity to compete on a yearly basis with the best pilots in the world on top-class circuits.

“As far as the GP of Brazil 2010 is concerned, we can already announce the first big news: indeed the GP will be held on August 21/22 in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul. We are building up a brand new circuit, within the city limits and we expect to have more than 50.000 people attending the event.

“Mato Grosso do Sul is a wonderful State, plenty of extraordinary beauties such as Pantanal and Bonito, strategically located in the geographic centre of South America. Campo Grande is a modern city, it has an international airport, all range of hotels and restaurants, top-end medical infrastructures and it is blessed with dry weather in August.

“We got the full support of all the local authorities: André Puccinelli, Governor of Mato Grosso do Sul, Nelson Trad Filho, Mayor of Campo Grande and Firmo Alves, President of the Motorcycling Federation of Mato Grosso do Sul. Therefore we have no doubt about the fact that Campo Grande is the perfect choice for hosting the GP of Brazil 2010.

“We will be announcing other important news about the GP of Brazil 2010 in the nearest future, particularly about an important sponsor that will be supporting the event: surprises are far to be over. Que venha Campo Grande*!”
