Rider Tryouts for the TLD / Moto Brew / Hot Wheels / Honda Supercross Team

Who will join the team as a second (or maybe even third) rider? That's unknown.

The Troy Lee Designs crew used a little different tactic Wednesday in their hunt to fill out a second (and possibly third) spot on their roster for their new Supercross Lites West team that will debut in '08. They had five potential riders on hand at Competitive Edge's Supercross track in Hesperia, CA, each hoping for a spot on the team when it hits the track at Anaheim 1.

The select group of riders each met with team management (including Troy Lee, Bob Weber, and Jeff Ward), as well as the team's mechanics. They each put in laps aboard a new Honda CRF250R, and while lap times were important, it apparently wasn't the final determining factor, since some riders were not ony unfamiliar with the Honda, but an incoming weather front created some seriously windy conditions that made riding the course extremely challenging.

Chris Gosselaar is returning to Hondas, and will do a lot of the team's baseline testing.

Whoever does make the final cut will join Chris Gosselaar, who's already been signed to the team...and we're glad we don't have to make the decision on who to eliminate. We've been asked to keep the rider's identities a secret for now (until they're done signing one of them), but as soon as they made their final decision we'll let you know who it is.
