James Stewart Update

Saying that James Stewart has had a rough few weeks might qualify as the understatement of the year. After seriously injuring his neck at the AMA National in Unadilla, he then courageously racing to an overall win at the Lakewood, CO, round. While still recovering from neck injury, he crashed near the end of the second moto in Washougal, injuring his left knee. For the nearly two weeks since then, the Motocross-class points leader had worked toward trying to make it to the race at Millville. But after visits with multiple doctors, and an attempt to ride on Friday, it was decided that the injuries were too serious, and James would have to sit out the Millville round.

With only a few rounds remaining, it looks instead that James' Monster Energy Kawasaki teammate, Tim Ferry; and Team Honda's Andrew Short will be at the forefront of the riders duking it out for the Motocross-class crown at the end of the season.

With the level of injuries to Stewart's knee (and exams by multiples doctors), it appears that surgery is a distinct possibility. If he goes that route, it will probably be next week, and you can expect that Timmy Ferry to be named to replace him as the third member of Team USA at the upcoming Motocross of Nations at Budds Creek.
