Americans Dominate the First Night in Bercy

Celebrating this year its 29th anniversary, the Supercross of Bercy fueled by Monster had a great success in this opening night, with intense, spectacular and undecided races. It was a strong show for the fans that filled the stadium, to celebrate an American triumph.

Except the Super Pole session, where all the riders had just one attempt to post the fastest possible lap, the American riders won all the races tonight: semi finals, American race, and final event! They just let to their rivals the Super Pole, where Gregory Aranda confirmed his ability and beat Barcia. Winner of his semi and later of the American Race, Justin Barcia was the favorite of the main event, even if Aranda was a strong rival. But the Frenchman was unlucky in the first corner when another rider put him down; several riders were involved in the pile up, including Aranda and Barcia who were forced to retire! With broken wheel spokes the reigning King of Bercy was forced to stop, as well as Aranda; Eli Tomac was luckiest than his teammate and took the lead of the fifteen laps race, followed by Mike Alessi. After a few laps Kyle Chisholm came second and put some pressure on Tomac, who never gave up and won the race followed by Chisholm and Jake Weimer who came back from sixth position. The first ‘non American’ rider was Arnaud Tonus in fifth position, followed by Cédric Soubeyras, Nicolas Aubin and Christophe Martin. Just after the main event, and before leaving the Palais Omnisports of Paris Bercy, the fans enjoyed a last Freestyle exhibition and ‘put the fire in Bercy’; it was just a repeat tonight, as the stadium will be sold out on Saturday, with 13000 noisy and enthusiast fans
