Preload spacers showa twin chamber 45mm forks

I got some heavier weight springs for my 94 rm250.

They are shorter than original so will require preload spacers.

2 questions

1 - do the spacers go in the bottom of the fork tube rather than under the spring perch ?

2 - I see both nylon and steel spacers advertised which is the preferable material?

Anything else I need to know about doing this task?

Thanks

On my 89 Honda Cr250 I had to make spacers out of pvc and install on the bottom of springs as per Race Tech…..

You can use nylon or steel or aluminum    PVC will break down and fall apart

I have ptfe rod available I can machine

I was considering making 2mm thick steel washers for the springs to seat on and the remainder of the spacer be made by the ptfe.

Regarding spacers at tube end or perch end of spring is there not a chance they can get stuck in the bottom of the tubes and be a pig to get back out for adjustment purposes?
