I haven't seen an engine for sale in a while and most complete bikes have had some level of "restoration" done to them.
I think most guys are parting the engines out these days.
With gears, shift forks, cranks and other parts out of production, people are asking crazy prices for scarce repair parts.
If you find one for a build, make sure it has a good gearbox or do a little digging on the companies who are making those parts.

My buddy has a brand new, every part new (cases, cylinder, crank, every part ordered back in the day) All ti-bolts, nuts and studs. Balance crank, ported cylinder, head mod. New carb, pipe silencer. Hinson clutch.
