Larson and Davenport at volunteer speedway last nite. This is floracing highlights but does it justice. Track is in bulls gap, birthplace of archie campbell heehaw fame, about 20 minutes west of me. They run this on nite before Bristol dirt racing starts.
Been there.
Awesome track.
Another bad ass dirt track that no longer exists was, atomic speedway west of Knoxville.
3/8 mile high banked, dirt oval.
Great racing.
360 outlaws were there every year.
Even the AMA flat track series raced there once.
Now it's a damn cement factory.
AMA has been to volunteer twice in last decade or so but came here first time when I was about 15 in 78. It was very high bank and steep , like Bristol . All the hero’s were here and hated it . Surface was shit , couldn’t really slide cause the bank was so steep. A guy crashed , was hit and in a coma till just months before they were to come back . He passed away and race was cancelled.
i tried to find results but no luck . I know jay was here but was thinking Kenny was to
That was like watching full contact ballet. Brutal, yet tastefully graceful!
Atomic was bad ass. Good to see Larson having fun and having some success after going through that BS with Nascar, Davenport’s a wheelman.
The Shop
Watched it on Flo racing Hillbilly.
WOW what a race!
Davenport is scheduled to race Trucks tonight, tomorrow in CUP at Bristol right
I need to go to a race, its been awhile.
I grew up watching hall of famers Don Hester and Jerry Inmon in North Mississippi.
