I’m sure if you paid for it Feld would be open to a soft cushion that goes around the track. Maybe it can be like a blow house.

They could atleast do the rhythms by the stands. Really the only part that needs it. It’s ok to evolve (nets)

At the very minimum they should put dirt there. Theres literally nothing there but concrete on the entire right side of the rhythm lane. Theres no option but to hit concrete. Pretty crazy. Yes it would cost a little bit more to ship 2-3 more trucks of dirt, but this sport is life and death. What if he died or was paralyzed? It easily could have been the case tonight. This has happened quite a few times now, the track is already dangerous as is no need to make it deadly.

Dunno if something laid down would be better or not but why not try to compile a list of instances in this thread. These two come to my mind right away but I'm sure there's some more.

Probably logistic reasons.

Can't say something soft would help either, soft surface has more chance to grab a limb impact or grab a neck rather than sliding on concrete..

It's a hard one.

Use the same ply they haul around but add 2 inches of Tuff Block padding on upper side. Then have similar branding covers made up. Sell to sponsors. They'll figure out how many they need for each venue.

And while they're at it ... figure out how to secure the regular Tuff Blocks so they don't go flying all over the track.

Money. Car manufacturers will weigh money it costs to fix a known problem vs money it will cost to pay the lawsuits those problems will cause. The lower amount wins.  Until Feld has to pay money because of the issue, they will not pay money to perhaps avoid the issue.

NASCAR got those soft walls after Earnhardt's passing. Granted they have more money but somethings gotta be done. But knowing Feld they'll add a section where if you miss the triple you land in a pool of sharks!

Chad always referred to it as a circus. Remember when Canard was the middleman between Feld and the riders to discuss concerns regarding the track? That didn't last long.

It's because Feld doesn't want to front the $$$

This exactly. On a related note are they limiting the woops and eliminating Dragonbacks to make the tracks safer, or cheaper to build and maintain during races?

Interesting… wonder if something like that D30 material about 2inches thick and a cover like the tuff blocks would provide some cushioning but also a bit of slippery give to stop anything catching… maybe 6ft wide and the length/width of the stadium each side… probably another semi to carry it investment wise.

It's easy to say that from your vantage point

You know, back in the good ol' days where you died in small car crashes banging your head off a metal surface or impaled by the steering column! That way you don't make the same mistake twice and only the strong survive

They can put the rubber gym mats around the track which would still allow riders to ride on it and safety to get around. If you go with a foam mat chances are it would be hard to get around for the medical crew and also machinery if need me in general. Rubber gym mats would soften the blow by a small amount atleast

The easiest would just be to put dirt. Its not the absolute greatest option, but its still a million times better than landing on solid concrete.

You're not supposed to ride over there.

I feel like they should line all the dead space in and around the track with 6-8 inches of sand. It would provide some cushion for a downed rider and keep guys that go off track honest. They'd also still be able to get the sxs out there to tend to a downed rider. It'll probably never happen, but sounds like a viable option atleast at coastal rounds. I thought about the rubber mulch also but I can't see them cleaning all of that up, hauling it to the next venue, especially after a mudder

why is concrete still on the floor? its obvious that the circus masters at Feld have very little empathy for their human ragdolls aka performers. They will make these guys pay their own entry fee, make a dangerous track with an impossibly dangerous section, AND save the $200 in dirt it would take to keep the side lanes covered. I really thought we had another brian moreau last night. its clear to me at least that Feld doesn't have the sound judgment and compassion for riders that is necessary for them to host these events

We can loan you a couple air hammers to remove it.
It's the responsible thing to do.
