This came across my facebook feed. Looks like all aftermarket Sunstar Sprockets will be no longer after July 30, 2025.

That's 60% of their business, sales of motorcycle chains, sprockets and brakes are tiny in comparison.

I've seen this all before. This is what what happens when a bean counter gets in control of a business. They don't realize the relationship of different channels and that selling direct to consumers actually gives them leverage with the mfg'ers they sell too.

Sad... misguided. But hope the guy gets a bonus for "new coke ing" the company.

Or their accountants understand chains, sprockets, brakes and other metal parts are only 8% of their business and are not part of their core chemical business.

Well.. maybe they want to punt 8% of the business... then another 5% here and there.. then ... over and over.

I've seen this this all before. If they want to divest from the business unit... sell it off. But if I'm on the board I ask the guy with this idea - "show me where your are going to grow the xyz business unit x % to account for the 8% hit we will take to top line revenue"... then hold him/ her to perform that sales increase. Then, and only then, sell it off.

Metal parts are not their core business, their core business is chemical, how about 45% revenue increase in oral care sales to Latin America...

If I was on the board of the chemical company, I'd be asking who's pet project was it to make metal parts?

The real question is, do you make them polish the sprockets?
