Nobody have ever questioned Haidens grit or will to win.

But i expected a 18 year old that had a camera pointed to his face since he was 6 years old, grown up in the industry and has a dad that ”come from nothing” to be able to speak and act like a likeable person.

It’s hard to please everyone now days but i doubt that people had a hard time to like AC or Pastrana when they entered the scene.

Haiden has been groomed his whole life to be a professional, then act like one off track to and not just on track.

The punk ass kid style looks way better on some white trash kid that grew up in the middle of nowhere and just became newley rich because he turned out to be good at racing and can’t handle the fame.

Not a kid the grew up in Temecula wine country at a million dollar mansion with private tracks.

100% best summary.

What are you most proud of in MX?

Bob Hannah:

“Not really the championships. I don’t look at championships or overall wins. I’m proud that I just got off my dead ass and really did it. You mentioned Saddleback. There’s a friend of mine who’s very rich. He had a very rich father. At that time, I looked and said, ‘Man, I wish my dad was rich like that, and had all that stuff, too.’ But if I would have had a millionaire father, I would have been a lazy bastard. And that’s a fact. I would have been ruined. It wasn’t like that. My father didn’t have any money.”

Me:

A lot of rich kids fall by the wayside. Not Haiden!

Look no further than Haiden’s younger brother

Forgot all about him. It's good they don't force moto on him.

We disagree here. The kid that comes up from nothing and the middle of nowhere will most times be more humble. Deegan is very skilled. It's a good thing.

What's the Chick-fil-A connection? Does Bob Hannah know the Lord?

He's also friends with the Cathy family that owns Chic-fil-A....when he was racing he would fly his plane to Hampton GA to visit them and pick up some sandwiches...back then they only had restaurants in the Atlanta area.

I said if he can’t handle the fame.

J-law often get brought up in the same sentence as Deegan and i just feel that they are so far apart how they grew up and i have easier to accept J-laws behaviour than Deegans.

You know, how he acted around the bike claim at lorettas, how he acted when Hunters bike broke down and how he just run his mouth all the time.

It’s just classless from a guy with Haidens background, he should take the high road those times instead of acting like a little Metal mulissia offspring

There is room for all of them in this sport, the quiet humble ones like Vialle and Hymas, and the loud arrogant ones like Deegan.

The disparity is a GOOD thing, I feel like the pendulum is swinging back to the podium stare-down days of Stew/RC/Reed. It's ok if they hate each other, it's ok if they dislike each other.

That's what makes it polarizing and easy to be a fan of one and not like the other, it doesn't matter which side you're on. It's ALL good for the sport.

I actually feel like Deegan likes the hard racing from Tom, I think he feeds off it. Looked to me like he was waiving him over after the race to give him a thumbs up and maybe a "that was a badass battle." Would he feel different if that move worked and he lost the overall? Of course, he wants to win, and I want to see racers who WANT TO WIN.

All that being said, I'm not a fan of the kid yet, I respect the hell out of his riding though. But I do love that Vialle, Hymas, and Kitchen have a villain in the mix. Bring it on.

The question is, can you separate the rider from the ride?

Would he be giving the thumbs up if he ended up on the ground or off the track?

As much as Brian likes to paint that broke kid from Nebraska story, it isn’t true at all. If you were there when he was an amateur coming up, he was the kid pulling up in a nice RV, with a great bike, etc. not that he didn’t work hard to get where he is, just that story isn’t true at all.

The whole schtick is phony - like Brian Deegan.

Matthes has mentioned a couple of times about speaking to a Star insider who said Deegan behind the scenes is nothing like the guy that talks about 'danger zones' and 'blood in the water'.  It's all Brian Deegan WWE promotional stuff.

Haiden's rides have been very impressive though.

Would Vialle give him a thumbs up if he ended up on the ground or off the track due to Deegan? What a stupid point.

The fact I can't stand Deegan most of the time off the track, but I'm defending him now, means the haters are just as bad if not worse than the Deegan worshippers.

" then Tom bumped me...that was cute"  Haiden Deegan.   And as he crosses the finish line, once again looking back and gesturing a WTF kinda thing to Vialle before celebrating.  Complete entitlement...spoiled little kid.  I like his tenacity and confidence, but his arrogance and entitlement is on another level.

I’ve found if I don’t watch his interviews I like him more. Love watching him ride but can’t stand the theatrics. Much more tolerable if I just don’t watch any of his interviews.

Yeah i heard that too and im with Jason Thomas on that one. If you act like that, people will see you like that.

And that actually make it worse that they want to portray him like that instead of a likeable athleat.

SX winner

multi time FMX  and X-games winner

star of numerous MX movies

created and owns an iconic MX brand

multi millionaire

happy and successful family

does whatever he wants, whenever he wants

People that actually know him, like him and respect him

On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the highest, I would say your jealousy is about a 10.

you can do all of those things and still lack character and maturity. in some cases, it probably helps. you're conflating two different things. once a cheater, always a cheater. i'm happy that he has a great life, but i don't have any admiration for him like i do for John Tomac or similar.

We don't expect much from 18 year olds these days.  Especially compared to the 70's.

Marty Tripes had won 2 Superbowl of Motocross titles by the time he was 17.  There were no regional SX races back then.

Marty Smith had won 2 National Championships and at 18 did dual duty in both the US and Europe

Warren Reid was following the Nationals by driving a van across the country at 16 and maintaining his own bikes

David Bailey started his pro career on a Bultaco that was outdated and later got a Team Green ride.  He drove across the country pulling his KX250 behind a vehicle using a bumper carrier.

The list goes on and on.  Pretty much everyone of these guys did it on internal drive and perseverance.  Hannah was the poster child for that.

We need to up our expectations.

Hi, just another grown-assed old man, here.

I see a racer tossing a little bit of shit at the competition and it acutely feels kinda old school, to me.

At the same time, I see some of my fellow old dudes sitting in their recliners and yelling at the kids to “Get off my damn lawn!”.

Seriously, some of you old farts need to go load up the bike and ride…and lighten the fuck up, no offense.

Agreed.  I don't love Deegan, but I do love he is talking some shit......and I hope someone (Vialle or Kitchen) start talking it back.  We need the rivalries.....not just thanking sponsors and baby Jesus!

That’s not exactly what he said. He said chance was going really fast but he was only worried about Tom.

the deegans want to turn this into UFC style press conferences and promotion.

His exact words in the post-race conference were, "Obviously, Chance is riding very well. I didn't have the speed in the second moto for him. He rode very well, but yeah we got the overall."

A reporter then ask him about learning the concept of slowing down "to go fast", which Haiden then replied, "...if you win the first moto and are sitting second, don't stress over trying to get to the lead. If you gotta push a scenario, don't do it. Be safe, and long picture..."

Haiden gave respect where respect was due, and basically said he's maturing a bit out there so I'm not seeing where you're coming from with your comments.

Haiden makes me cringe when he mouths off from time to time but Tom makes me cringe any time he uses his vocal chords. Gotta be the least masculine sounding voice of any contemporary male motocrosser. Sorry...that's f'd up to say but with all the Deegan hate in this thread, I figured I'd try & balance things out. Laughing

I think it's fair to say most kids in Haiden's situation are a bit spoiled and have an arrogance to them, especially when they're the best 250 rider on the planet. We've seen this many times, give it some time and Haiden will chill out a bit, but he's never going to change his aggressive style and will to win, which makes the sport exciting. Just sit back and enjoy it instead of making a thread on vital about how your feelings are hurt by some teenager.

Best on the planet 😂
