Few quick questions regarding part fitment with 08-17 RMZ450s.

- Wheels, Front/rear hubs/wheels are the same from 05 and up?

- Forks, I have a set of Showa TC from an 07 RMZ, will these work on the 08-17 chassis as long as I use 47mm clamps from 08-12?

- Brakes. I have a full front/rear brake setup from on 07, looks like everything is the same minus the carrier bracket for the rear caliper and the lines?

- Chassis. I know the bike is unchanged, with a few minor tweaks year to year, like the 13 and 14 coming with a slightly stiffer frame compared to the 08-12. None of these slight revisions offer any fitment differences in the general span of 2008-2017 RMZs correct?

Thanks in advance.

-Wheels are the same through current

-Forks...You might have to try a few things depending on what year bike you are dealing with. If I remember right, the stem is different from '13 and up so you might have to press it out and into '08-'12 clamps but I am not 100% positive. I would double check the length of the '07 forks as well. I do know that the '18+ 49mm Showa's will fit right into the clamps of the '15+ bikes that came with the TAC forks, just FYI.

-Brakes, I believe are all the same minus maybe some small internal differences. I think they got a larger piston in there over the years.

-Chassis. There were slight changes in 2013 and 2015 but nothing major. The frame cradle is different from '08-'12 so aftermarket skid plates are different.

I still have a low hour 2012 RMZ 450 and it is IMO one of the best bikes ever made.

Appreciate the insight. I used to ride a buddies 2012 often with a few mods and it’s the only 450 I’ve ever really liked.

What are you trying to accomplish if you don't mind me asking?

I’ve accumulated a fair amount of RMZ parts over time for when I was finally able to find a good base to refresh for a solid and reliable 450. I bought a bunch of 05-07 RMZ parts from a dude for $30 locally just because the rear wheel was still in good shape. Didn’t realize he had tons of other stuff like the brake systems, forks etc. I got super lucky on here and scored an 09 RMZ450 motor that needs a rod and a full FMF Ti system for basically nothing. I’m at the point now where buying a base bike wouldn’t really make sense, so I’ve been eyeing up building my own rolling chassis off eBay parts.

Awesome! Are you going to do a build thread?

Definitely, just got a few more projects to wrap up and then I’ll be able to check some things off my list to get this RMZ build started up. Getting these pins out of my thumb on Wednesday so I can finally get back to spinning spanners.

I gotcha. I would suggest trying to find a donor '08 or '09 then. Did you get the ECU and wiring harness with the engine? That would be might biggest concern. I think they might have changed the electronics around over the different models but I'm not positive.

I did not but I do have a line on a 2011 ECU and wiring harness. I’ll have to do some digging, I do remember reading now that the ECU location may have changed at one point.
