Apparently someone stumped up the cash that Star was asking.

Star told the UK they needed 70k to send anstie over there. The UK said no chance. Well, an undisclosed “sponsor” has stepped up to cover the costs! Sounds like a Brit but I’m not for certain. I know one thing, Lewis did NOT cover the 70k

That’s what happens when you want to race for your country , you make it happen 🦾🔥 team said not for free, UK said can’t pay but here we are with Max on the squad 👊

I think it's a bad thing someone agreed to the rumored sum. It obviously worked for Star to put this ridiculous sum as the price, and may set a pretty dangerous precedent for the future.

As a fan of the event, i would've much rather seen UK give Star the finger like i assume the French federation/team did with them last year.

Yes I agree. Obviously it makes a big difference to our team to have Max, it’s not as easy for us to replace him as it was for France to replace Ferrandis. But in the long run, it probably would’ve been for the best not to pay what they were asking.

Countries have sent full teams, with a pretty solid and well backed efforts for less than what Star were asking for. Between that and the way they’ve treated some of their riders over the years, I have very little respect for them

With his son being a few years off , will we see a team with a father and son ?

What happens if Stars rider gets hurt at the des nations and misses the whole next year of racing because of it? Does Star have it in their contracts that if a rider gets hurt at an event that Star doesn’t support, they don’t get paid?

With that logic they should only ride at races and never get on the bike otherwise. The same thing applies to every team and every rider, they’re the only ones acting this way

If Max gets hurt at nations the thought, “oh poor star, they just lost a rider for the year” doesn’t cross my mind. I’d be more concerned about Max as a person & a racer.

Side note: Star would sign a new rider before Max is even out of the hospital.

I understand the significance of Leok racing so many Nations. But are there injuries for guys like Talkviku and Vettik that they are not selected? I mean Leok in MX2 when Talviku got 13th in AMA 250 this season and Krestinov in MXGP when Vettik was 3rd overall in EMX open this year (beating Krestinov).

Talviku has Esptein-Barr and Vettik did not want to go MX2 after riding 450 this year. Between the three estonian riders, it's 42 selections at MXdN. Pretty crazy.

To demonstrate how long he’s been at it, at his first MXdN he raced against Kurt Nicoll! 😂

Was Kurt still racing then? I thought he quit after his pre season crash in 97.

He was on Team GB in 2001 at Namur. He didn’t race GP’s in ‘98,’99 or ‘00. He raced one GP in 2001 and then was on the Nations team. I don’t have any idea of the circumstances around how on earth that happened, but it appears that it did 😂

My point is that Star would still be paying a rider that’s now hurt all year that did a race that they didn’t care for. At the end of the day Star is paying the bills, it’s their decision.

We got your point, it's just a bad one. There are 100 riders going to the event from a bunch of teams that all face the same risks as Star. The difference is they are going.

If it's true that Star "won't send riders" and is making Anstie outsource the funds for him to go, it's a bad look. Especially for a team that has the biggest group of riders on either side of the pond.

Estonia will send a wery competitive and equally experienced riders this year. We have Harri Kullas - Lot of experience racing in england for many seasons and winning there.

We have Gert Kreetinov a surprise MX2 Lommel GP winner, who raced many years in england, and has found his stability and strenght in the later years of his carrerr. He is mentally so strong now, and those rides ata Ama PRO Motocross this season, southwick especially were proud to watch. Dude came way out of 30th place to score top 13 finishes. Open class for him.

And Tanel, well there is not much words you can use to describe him. Doesn't matter his age or result the whole season: you can count on Tanel to be on his A game and he likes the event and he will never quit. He is like a freight train, once he gets mowing, he will never stop. Wish the motos where 40+2 and the track had three weeks rain on it before. I would like to see who could come out of this battle on their feet? Estonian Express would win it by a mile.

Overall a 40 year okd Tanel in his 22nd MXDN is a man on a mission to but those 16 year old freshmen back to their places, so Tanel is motivated and Propably gonna ride his sons bike for the weekend.

In the future we could see the whole estonian team again 9nly consisting of Leok's.

There has been once with Tanel, Aigar and Avo Leok all representing estonia at mxdn.

Soon it will be Lucas Leok MX2, Travis MXGP and Seb on OPEN class. TANEL will still be backup and since Aigar also has to be there, he might be a substitute. Cause speed can disappear, but talent doesn't

All those 22 years, not only has Tanel represented Estonia, he had got us qualified and basically when you think about the nations here in Estinia, you think about Tanel Leok

Balls.

Belgium will be praying Jago finds his mojo pretty sharpish. Which could possibly make them even stronger if Lucas drops back down to 250..

Why would France be the favorite? Febvre is not up to speed at the moment, and even if he is, Vialle is a bit off the pace and who’s the third guy? Ferrandis? Paturel? Charlier?

Vialle will get the GP spec bike back though no production rule at nations
