Hey guys, I’m obscenely curious on what are or have been the most controversial or based hot takes in motocross history? I’m sure the introduction of the 4 stroke brought up some hot takes and even now with the e bikes. But what are some other hot takes? No matter the absurdity. Thanks!

Jett may have similar arm problems as AC if he was hit hard enough to cause that much damage. I don't wish injury on any person, but this could be a real possibility.

I like Kickstarters, saves weight and fewer expensive parts to break.

More people would race local MX if there was less waiting around and longer motos.

For example, practice days are $40-50. For races you have to pay for gate entry and then $50-60 per class.

Yeah man, I don’t get it. How much do you think it should cost? Building and operating a track is expensive.

Motocross and recreational riding will be all but dead in the next 10-20 years. E-Bikes and electric "motorcycles" are changing the face of the sport and where people can ride. Top that with increasing demand for buildable real estate and there wont be anywhere reasonable to burn dinosaur juice.

Kids are growing up with electric mountain bikes and these Surron things. The younger generation demands instant gratification and driving 1-2 hours to go ride wont be on the agenda anymore.

Man i sounds old...

250SX regional classes are meant to develope young riders, not for guys to spend their whole career in.

Rip the tracks super deep and then water the shiet out of it...even now at the local level.  Everyone loves peg deep ruts...right?

My biggest gripe is the amount of track time you get for the prices to enter each class. It’s been years since I’ve raced a legit MX race because there’s no point in me paying $60 to enter a class with two four lap motos, I’ll take that $60 to my local harescramble and get a full two hour race + a lap of practice, or pay $30-$40 to go ride with my buddies all day whenever we want at a practice track.

We had a “GP” series a few years ago pop up here, it was on a ranch with a smaller, but fun sandy MX track and then they ran you through some trails afterwards. Laps were somewhere between 5-8 minutes, with two 30 min + 1 lap motos per class, was like $40 or $50 to enter, and non AMA. Was super fun the few rounds they had, then there was drama between the HS series and GP series because they both used the same property. I don’t remember the details but it ended with the GP series folding and the Harescramble series never going back to the property again. Sucks because under both promoters it was one of my favorite places to ride in FL.

Banish thine 450’s from stadiums. Allow 250 two smokes in the 250 class. Bring back the gyrating butt wiggle with the 30 second board girls.

Maybe it's not such a hot take anymore with the amount of PED scandals and people becoming more educated about doping in sports, but just a few years ago I remember being treated like a tinfoil hat nut for suggesting it, and I definitely couldn't have mentioned any of those names without GuyB bringing the ban hammer down. I think it's obvious what Aldon brought to the sport, and why RC had so much success over his peers.

“RC only won because of PEDs” is the one actual hot take in this thread. Bravo

What's also interesting is that Jeff Spencer, who worked with team Honda and some others (@Uptite, please confirm), was also at all of Lance Armstrong's Tour victories...providing "mental support" or something (Lance is a full sociopath he doesn't need a mental coach). I've heard him speak and he brings very little in that dept imo. So what else was he around for?

Motocross's biggest long term enemy is urban sprawl and with it the obligatory 25 lane highways.

High density housing, walkable cities and public transport is a huge key to ensure motocross tracks have a viable future.

Electic bikes and ICE bikes can co-exist (for a while).

Electric bikes will bring a lot of positives and negatives to the sport, policy and public perception will dictate which is greater.
