Hah what do you consider a real woman? I think you're right though, women were never into those boys and all their makeup like Robert Plant, Jim Morrison, Steven Tyler, David Bowie, Prince, Mick Jagger........

While I like the music from all those guys..... I would never call them "manly".....  🤣

Groupies don't count when it comes to real women.

Roger has always carried the air of masculinity.    Jett is going down the path of effeminate BFF shopping boy wearing shit like that.

"Men" today....makeup, manicures, hairs stylists, catwalk clothes...etc etc.      My nephew (wifes side of the family) spends more time in front of a mirror than his current girlfrend.....who, no surprise, wears the pants in the relationship too.    Everyone knows where that relationship is headed.

FFS....just be a MAN.    Real women prefer men.

Ahhh, the 70s....when men were 'real' men and no one wore 'girlish' fashion

surprised there isn’t more coverage on it but hes dating, an actor and singer Dylan Conrique. Shes got 1.6 Million followers on insta and 4 Million on TikTok.

Hopefully she can do what Taylor Swift did to the NFL with SX (thats extremely wishful thinking though)

I feel like this is the first time a supercross racer is dating an actual “celebrity” that tons of ppl know vs just bagging a random monster chick (nothing wrong with that). I knew who this girl was yearsss before she and Jett started dating. I wasnt a fan, but for whatever reason she would pop up on my instagram feed all the time.

Yea but carey hart was a freestyle guy. I dont think he even got 1 win on a 125 which brian deegan even did. Yes technically he raced supercross at one point, but I was more talking about in regards to the title of the thread of “growing the sport” one of the big names in our sport is dating a celebrity or influencer or whatever and that is not common at all.

And so how is that going to grow the sport?  Are her fans going to start buying dirt bikes and tires and gear and oil and parts?

If I never heard the term ‘grow the sport’ again I could die a happy man.

None of the grassroots fans would like the result if the sport was mainstream.

Do us fans even realistically want the sport growing?

We obviously don't want it going extinct...

But the more people that ride, the faster tracks and riding areas will get closed down in the big picture.

Ahh, the old 'growing the sport' discussion.

Can we get some clarity on what this means?

Does 'growing the sport' mean:

1. More people buying motocross bikes and competing in official competitions whether local, state, or national?

2. More attendees at live SX, MX and SMX events, and larger TV/streaming viewership numbers?

3. Both?

When Gypsy Ho bangs on about 'growing the sport' he seems to be referring exclusively to the second option and thinks this will happen through things like Jett wearing fashionable clothes, Haiden posting YouTube content, and the imaginary Netflix Drive to Survive show he keeps blowing.

I doubt that the sport will grow much more in it’s current form.

It’s an old sport where the first GP were held in 1957 and the US nationals in 1972. So the sport have been around in a long time, and most of the random people know that it excists and what a dirtbike is.

So they know about it, but don’t care enough to watch it in it’s current form.

Then we have the FMX scene, guys like Travis actually grew the sport/usage of MX bikes and displayed it in a new form that were more pleasing to the average man.

When a random person hear that you ride MX they often mention Travis and think that FMX is MX, and  i was involved in Drifting for 10-15 years, building and importing JDM cars, and as soon as people heard the word drifting they started to talk abou Ken Block’s videos and belived that was drifting, but as a core drifter, nobody would call what he did was real drifting.

So my point is, that if a sport that is 70+ years old in it’s current form don’t draw more attention from the outside, it probably never will untill you change the format to something that the average joe want to see.

The sport started in New England in 1967. I was there

Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn were at A1 once

Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn at A1 was all MC growing the sport.  He was a true showman and even if the race was a runaway he still made it exciting.

I see this in Deegan but not in Jett.  At least use your talent to throw a big whip on the last lor something to get people excited. Jett's style is smooth and revolutionary but boring in my opinion.

Jett is similar to Dungey in this regard.  I think Jett might be more marketable to non endemic sponsors because his image is pretty clean

I can’t come up with a comp for Haiden off the top of my head that I’ve seen race but people that watched Hannah often make that comparison.  He appeals to a certain demo but his appeal is not as ubiquitous as Jett’s imo.

I wish we could go back to 1978-1980, personally.  Even without the live TV coverage, the sport seemed about a thousand times more genuine.

It still is at the local level. There is two different factions here. There is growing the sport at the grassroots level and the. Growing the amount of eyes watching the sport and they don’t have a lot in common.

I don't see how growing the amount of eyes watching the sport benefits anyone but the promoters and maybe a few of the guys who are making night shows in SX.

Really?  Its like with anything. Get enough eyeballs and you’ll convert a percentage of those to go buy a dirt bike and start riding. Granted it’s a super small percentage. But if you get say 5 million unique viewers in a season of SX and .1% of them buy a bike that’s 5,000 sales of bikes gear parts blah blah blah. It’s not insignificant.

Why is Jett going down the same weirdo path Lewis Hamilton went down? Weird, delusional styles. He’s going to be talking about carbon footprint next.

I've never heard of someone style described as delusional. What do you mean by that?

The first time I took my then girlfriend to a SX she had no interest in at all, but wanted to go with me, to be with me. I took her through the pits explained a few things pointed out the fast guys also that 15 year old Damon Bradshaw, and the guy who I thought would win, Ross Pederson. We bought a couple shirts, a program, some food and got to our seats. Explained how the night-show would go then settled in to watch. Just from the walk through the pits she picked out a few to watch and this woman was on her feet the entire show cheering and screaming at the racers, I was in aw... She found it so exciting and had an amazing time, on the way home she begged me to teach her how to ride, and the next day we were at the track. She really got into it and encouraged me to actually train and start racing. For the first 8 years of me racing (until our son was born) she never missed a single one of my races, and I couldn't have asked for a better pit crew/helper.

So eyes on the sport doesn't always convert to riders on the track, but I'm sure it doesn't hurt.

Yeah, but I want to go back to seeing the world through the eyes of a 12-15yo also......!

You know who cares about trends and celebrity lifestyles? The idiots in charge at your local and federal government

Celebrity endorsement could encourage the government to subsidize events and riding areas, as well as keeping existing riding areas open.

Public sentiment is influenced by the influencers, so let's try to welcome it so that we can grow the sport -not by short term dollars but by long term legislation from the impressionable public servants.

Yeah, my wife would have a fit if I stored clothes in the “cupboard.”

If the point of professional racing, from the OEM perspective, is “Win on Saturday, sell on Monday” then growing the sport is about increasing the number of dirt bike owners. But the sport’s biggest promoter is not motivated by motorcycle sales and grassroots racing; their profit comes from butts in seats and and getting as many eyeballs on the TV/streaming feeds they can.  Those guys would kill to get a “Drive to Survive” popularity explosion happen for supercross.

If that type of growth, viewership and attendance growth, resulted in a return to grassroots involvement like we had in the early 1970s, that would be amazing. Doesn’t seem likely, but it’s a great vision.

I can see it now, during A1, every time Jett makes a pass, the camera pans over to Jett's girlfriend in her loge where she's jumping up and down in excitement.  Please shoot me.

You guys don’t see how the Jett v Deegs battles are already being manufactured just like the x games did with 38 and 199… it’s the same exact thing.  This will bring the most new viewers IMO.
