Who runs the RJ Wing seat from Guts and what is your opinion of them? I'm on a 21 KTM 350 XC-F and as of now I have Steg Pegz on them. Helps tons with arm pump but yeah, I know, gimmicks shouldn't be used to mask riding deficiencies, so I'd like to lose the Steg Pegz.

My question is how much does that seat help gripping the bike? Any other opinions on the seat are welcomed.

The irony of losing one aid but buying another isn't lost on me. I'm trying to ease back, not quit cold turkey.  lol

I haven’t used one either but I do prefer bikes that have some seat to grip with my knees. For instance the 2023 ktm is significantly better in that regard than the 2022. I don’t really consider the rj seat a gimmick like the steg pegs. The rj seat may teach you better fundamentals. I’m not sure the steg pegs do that.

I think I posted this in the other thread, but I installed one of those seat covers on a friend’s FC350 for him. He feels it helps him with gripping the bike and reminding him of positioning.

I will say that if I was going to try one, I’d buy the complete seat…the cover was a PITA to install as when you try to pull the middle tight (near the wings), you’re pulling on the wings more than the inner cover, making it tough to get proper tension to eliminate wrinkles and slack up top.

Put one on a friends ‘23 Husky FE510 (he was coming off of a CRF450X-a wider bike). He’s tall and likes to grip the bike with his knees. He also uses Steg-Pegs. He says they both help him grip the bike.

So you’d be trading one “gimmick” for another? I don’t understand. You’d never say good bar mounts and bars are a gimmick. Just stop masking the vibration! Seriously though, if they work, keep them. The wing seat probably won’t be as effective IMO.

I would agree, installing mine was an absolute beast.  Put it on a '21 GasGas 450 and don't feel it was worth the trouble over a regular gripper seat.

I called it a gimmick as a preemptive strike. Lots of people don't believe in the Steg-Pegz, but for me they work. One of the reasons I want to get rid of them is it makes air filter changes a "tool involved" job.
