Only $10 for all 2024 SX, MX, and SMX series (regularly $30).
Obviously this is an individual who grew up getting a trophy for 10th place.
With 8 hours before the first gate drop, there are 606 tickets left to sell, that's not bad for a stadium with a capacity of 53,343.
His trophy for creating drama is money.
All other things being the same, minus the Lawrences being involved, I'd say no, Deegan still wouldn't be there. As it's been explained multiple times before in this thread and the other one, there's no need to pay Deegan six figures to be at a race that's basically sold out already. The only thing that would be different is we would have never heard anything about it because the Deegans wouldn't have had anyone to cause drama with.
The Shop
They can’t make decisions on whether other riders can enter. They are one part of a management group who collectively decide if/what they are going to pay a marquee overseas rider any appearance money.
It’s an overseas race for any US based riders, and it’s only one round out of five for the Australian SX championship. There is no conflict of any material consequence to anybody.
Even beyond those reasons, why would they fork out money for any top US rider to come and ride the 250 class with no real competition? With the Lawrence’s both riding back in Australia for the first time in many years, I don’t think Deegan would have moved the needle significantly with attendance numbers.
3 hours until the main gates open, 514 tickets left for sale, quick lets find 514 people who are willing to pay AU$300 each, so Deegan can get his $100,000 and doesn't have to live in a tent!
Yeah, didn’t MLs article say the Lawrence’s weren’t the only investors not willing to sign off on it?
All emotions aside (sorry that may be hard for some of you), but has big money ever been paid for any 250 rider to compete in the AusX Open? Happy to be corrected, I just can’t think of any.
International riders are paid well to compete in the Aussie series for local teams, however one off, well paid appearances are usually reserved for 450 competitors.
Reality is, in Australia the 250 class barely moves the attendance meter for SX. I’m going tonight and seeing Deegan would have been a bonus, but I don’t care that he’s not there. Sorry, not sorry.
Page 5 had me rolling guys, some funny stuff and on that one 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The most infuriating thing in all of this, is that A LOT of people have no idea how to properly use an apostrophe.
You fuckers and YOUR spelling can fuck off.
It's an MX website and yall groupies should understand your heros didn't go to school and can't spell either.
"heroes"
I have my grade 12.
Make the cut on your 4th try?
Someone took that personally...
You Canadians don't know shit about the "cut"
Ain't no gangsters in Canada
They should have brought Deegan over to help out the show. Jett only ended up giving the crowd 8 laps worth of entertainment.🤪
Pit Row
Right. Everyone stop being so disingenuous. I'd be pumped just to watch Deegan at a practice track.
Sounds gay.
I don’t know if because of SM saturation or what but I have Deegan fatigue - he’s been the second coming of MX for damn near 15 yrs. Awesome rider/racer but can we just get on with and throw him the pit with Jett. He’s prob got more hrs on a bike than anyone out there - pull the bandaid - quit fucking around in the minors and do this…
Vince Friese here....how did Deegan do?
Well............
When you talk shit on someone, that shit sticks around.
Sometimes it doesn't matter how well you can dance, you still might not be invited to the dance.
The moral of the story is, Deegan got an offer months ago like Webb did, he didn't think anything of it and didn't even reply to them. Then 2 to 3 weeks out when the event is sold out he decides he wants to go to test his injury out before A1, smart move. But when the event is sold out, your $100k show up fee is a pure waste of money to the event and promoter. The Lawrence's screwed up by getting their manager to ring Deegan to let him know he wasn't required, not having someone from the event hierarchy to make that call.
Deegans have enough money that if they wanted to they could have jumped on a plane to Melbourne, either sent a bike or sourced a bike locally and brought the parts they needed to be competitive and finally entered the event as any person could have. Jeremy Coker and Webb were going there, it wouldn't have been hard to organise.
Just because my opinion is unpopular doesn't mean it's not right.
