I'm curious what everyone thinks of webbs performance since going to Star. When the news broke and he was asked about it all, He seemed very confident and had this little smirk as if he was saying "Im finally off that KTM. I'm gonna smoke these guys. I'm so comfortable on this Star yamaha"
But I can't tell if he's just lacking the speed or he just isn't comfortable on the yamaha yet and needs more time to test and get use to the bike. But also, tomac switched from kawi to yamaha and came out comfortable af and was destroying everyone. So it's not entirely true that everyone struggles at first with a brand change
Poll
Webb haters in 3....2.....1...
(WDS)
I'll be honest, I expected more out of Webb. He's had 6-7 weeks with the bike and should be fresh.
I don't doubt his determination....Webb is a gamer. I don't believe for a second he would be there if his heart wasn't in it.
I think he'll figure it out.
He's certainly going to be happier at Star.
He'll be fine - He's fast but so are the others in the top 10...
I'm sure I'll catch hell for this... But I feel like that what I saw was a bit of a "pudgy" Webb. I know he doesn't have the body type of some of the other guys, but he didn't even look like CW from a year ago... JMHO
cooper will be top3 in 24' SX....maybe the top step as well.
The Shop
I think Webb is finding out that its not the bike that was slowing him down. He's clearly overweight compared to earlier this year. With weight comes slower speeds and reactions. I think its his fitness and the rest will come. But he's probably gonna be 4th during the supercross season..
I was a huge Cooper fan but I'm officially off the Webb wagon.
Not happy the way he exited after Roger resurrected his career by calling him while he was in the hospital with a broken leg to sign him on the team.
I feel like he did Roger and the Team wrong.
I agree with everything you said
Normal struggle with a brand change, compounded by a normal struggle with a new design bike. Webb will be up with the leaders soon, I see him as a consistent podium rider in 24 SX.
Webb finally back on the road bike after his latest SMX performance.
Normal struggle with KFC, pies, and cakes you mean.
Let's wait until we are 4-5 SX rounds in to determine if he's adapting well or not. I have faith he'll be up front soon enough.
Just put a buffet at the end of the race and he'll win every time .
Webb didn't have much choice. KTM only offered him a one year deal in 2022, so come Oct 2023 he was gone anyway. Webb wasn't happy at the one year only offer. KTM wasn't happy they had to force him to train/Return to Baker's Factory. Webb wasn't happy he had to work that hard. Not happy he openly blamed the bike/team. Obviously that did not make them happy. KTM paid him to take last Summer off, and he wanted that again this year. He was obviously not pleased KTM wanted him to ride and earn the paychecks this year by racing the Nationals. That didn't last long.
You can see they had issues.
Star was a lifeline.
The petty little trash talk about Webb being a fat fuck. 😄 he's not even that fat just a little pudgy and ya'll talking about him needing a buffet to win haha🤣 that shit is cracking me up
No way bro, KFC Bowl all day
Difficult tracks to base his bike change off of. Everyone has been struggling with set up.
Doesn’t matter what bike Webb rides, nobody is beating Jett anytime in the near future out of any championships.
Well except Jett himself maybe.
So maybe his weight gain does mean something if the team was wanting him to train at bakers factory. I guess they felt he wasn't putting in the effort to be in shape
Pit Row
Hmmmm...
What happened the last time the haters all talked their crap on Webb...?
I'm thinking he'll have shit figured out by A1.
I'm jus' sayin'...
Well we haven't seen him race SX yet. You know the thing that he has been training and setting up his bike for for months. Maybe dont throw him under the bus quite yet
"He's certainly going to be happier at Star." Based on what? I bet he was pretty damn happy winning those 2 sx titles
His whole thing in recent years was sniping people at the end of the race or capitalizing on mistakes of other riders. He has to be in amazing shape to do that because he’s just not a guy that gets a good start and runs away from everyone. We saw him with and without training with Aldon and I think the correlation to results is pretty clear. For him to be a podium or win contender, Swanepoel is going to really have to kick his ass with training this offseason.
Did everybody forget he was in the title fight till he got smacked by AC’s wheel?
Yup....people have short memories around here. ...or some people just love to hate the guy.
Webb held the red plate against Chase and Tomac earlier this year....Chase wasn't even in the running due to all his self-auggering antics.
People been counting out Webb since his early days. Ciancirillo (sorry I can't spell his name) was the "golden boy" back then....how many SX titles does he have? (I like AC before anyone shits themselves over that comment)
Hell...people have already forgotten and written off Tomac now that Jett is the new golden calf.
I think that with the new young blood and hunger in his class, and that a few others seem more committed to the new pace and energy needed, Roczen, AP, that Webb hasn't pivoted and is stale. I'm hoping he finds some speed, but just don't see him being a top 3 guy. Would be great if I'm wrong!
Roger stated recently in MXA interview, Webb needs Aldon training, supervision and accountability.
Another example of a Champ / title contender leaving Aldon, and results drop off.
There is really no excuse for Cooper to show up for SMX not ready to go with a full send. He has been on the Yamaha all summer and one would think he would be in a boot camp scenario to show up, take names, and kick ass, but he is 30+ seconds off the pace. Kenny took the whole summer off too and he has been yarding Webb, not even close. He went to KTM, gave himself up to the program and turned his 450 career around completely and had nothing but success. Then he goes off on his own, boasting about the best off season ever and got humbled. It is clear he has a lot of work to do to run with the top dudes, who are all going extremely fast. He can be stubborn all he wants but if his fitness isn't on point he will be fucked come SX 2024. When he was on point with KTM the guy was an assassin.
Think of how bad it was behind the scenes for you to can a guy that was getting podiums for you in the nationals. I heard whispers that Webb was pretty toxic behind the scenes this summer. He wasn’t happy with KTM and let it be known. KTM was fine to just say F this. Stay home for the nationals we are done.
That being said at Cookie cutter SX tracks Webb is one of the best in the business he will figure it out and consistently be in the podium hunt.
He’ll get back to where he was pre-Cianciarulo hit. I think the change Star will be positive. Dylan Ferrandis was in the same boat injury-wise, and has found his form again over the last few months. SMX is a good warm up for SX. He’ll never catch Jett and probably won’t catch Sexton, but who knows.
I wont ever count Webb out. I havent seen anything on the Yamaha to think he will be a threat. His results so far have been underwhelming. But honestly its way too early to tell.
I didnt see him being a threat to Eli or Chase in the last Supercross series yet he was right in the hunt and it was Chase who looked out of it.
I have it as Sexton, Tomac and Jett top 3. Webb and Roczen certainly wouldn't surprise me if they mixed it up with them though. Be an amazing series if everyone can show up at their best and stay fit. Ot wont be an easy series to win.
