It's A1 - ANYTHING can happen. Plus it's an incredibly deep field.

I got ET3, CW2, and Jett as my top 3. I am already second guessing myself. Hell, Barcia used to like A1 a bit, right?

CANNOT WAIT for Saturday. Then we go racing Sunday. My fave time of year!

Tomac came in 2nd to Sexton in SX and Lawrence swept the field in MX.

I'm tuned in man.

Nah....this was last year.    I think it was actually MX Guy who started a thread that said Tomac would never win again.    Whoever it was, they got torched when Tomac won last year.     Can't find the thread, OP must have deleted it.

Not top 3. And I could very well be wrong. Really tough choices for top 5 this year, so many possibilities. Kenny, ando, chase, barcia, coop, hunta, AP, and more!

I feel like people can’t differentiate between that they want to happen and what they actually believe will happen. I want Eli to win. I think Jett will win. I want the Packers to win the Super Bowl. I’m still going to bet on the Chiefs

I think he can, but hope he doesn't live and die by the scoop tire.

Tomac does not have the speed of Jett. It's the changing of the guard, and every few years it happens. Jett is simply better than everyone else at the moment. He's on path to break records (though I don't see him breaking McGrath's record), and is undoubtedly the best rider in the world.

Chase was the fastest SX rider in the world in 23’ before he got on a totally different bike.  He will be top 2 this year.  Screen shot and bank on it.

I'm a big Sexton fan, but I don't know about this narrative that Chase was faster in '23. Sure he was willing to send it more often, but we saw how that turned out, lots and lots of crashes.

Eli won at the beginning of the season, A1 after crashing. He crashed at Round #4 Anaheim 2, and that beat him up a bit. (I saw it in person, it was a gnarly crash and took him a little while to recover) And he was gonna win in Denver, a race he didn't need to win, but wanted to win, before he tore his Achilles. So he started the season winning, was gonna end the season winning and did what he needed to in the middle.

Just like in '22 MX, Chase had a large points advantage at the beginning of the season, Eli closed that points gap that Chase had over him, and he won when he needed/wanted to.

I think if Eli consistently sends it, Jett & Chase will have a battle on their hands. I'd put the 3 of them at their best all within 1% of each other speed wise.

We'll find out soon enough!

I'd argue Tomac had the speed to match him and Gasjer, or very close, but did not have the stamina. Keep in mind it was only his 3rd National in like 2 years, and that performance showed he can still do it. Now, if we follow Weege's theory, he won't be able to have it every weekend, but I fully expect Tomac to give Jett the business a few times this year. All speculation, but I hope I'm right, it'll be interesting to see how Jett handles it Smile

People can grasp at straws how much they want because Eli is their hero, but Jett has caught up and passed Eli so many times now at SX/SMX and MXDN that I feel that Tomac has something to prove here other than people’s biased feelings towards him.

Has Eli ever passed Jett?

I think, and hope, we're going to see a tight back and forth battle between Jett and Chase all year.

With Tomac and Webb lurking close behind for the scraps.

Hunter will be a factor as well.

But where ??

That's the question.

I think Webb is healthy for the first time in a couple of years. If his hand is healed and he can hold onto the bike for an entire main, like he used to with ease,..Webb will win a few races and contend for the title.

So far with what we've seen (especially that quad at Daytona) the answer is no.

I think you forgot to add “comfort” into your equation. I think we’d both agree he wasn’t the guy he is in the present form. Look I’m such a big Tomac fan I’m basically feral but his 2024 SX campaign was a mixed bag.

I mean we ride - are you not willing to send it way more when you’re comfortable?

People around here seem to have forgotten the reality of the '23 season for Tomac.  Sexton was much faster than him all year but kept tucking the front or crashing.  Eli, for his part, was avoiding doing some of the gnarlier rhythm options.  Sure, Eli was going to win the '23 season before his achilles injury but this masks the fact he wasn't the same Eli as '22 and definitely not the same as the years prior to that. In those years it was always Eli that had the most raw speed.  This is not a shitting on Eli post by the way.  I've always been a massive ET fan but some of his supporters on here cannot look past their own fanboidom to grasp some facts.

Back to the original question.  No, Eli won't hang with Jett most of the time.  If Jett crashes, has a particularly bad start, or is hanging back to protect points and Eli gets a good start and so on, Eli could beat Jett on occasion.  But that's not the same as hanging with him.  IMO, the only two that could get somewhat close to Jett are Chase and Hunter.

Las Vegas SMX 2024

So you are effectively saying he can't "hang" with Chase or Hunter?  I think he's capable of latching onto any of these guys. Will he pull a crazy combo to win? We will see. What if Jett crashed trying to build a gap? Will that be a faster rider like the Chase circa 2023 you speak of? Its 2025...it's a healthy, well prepped ET (aka Extra Terrestrial) here to ride his last year. I think he'  here to wreak some revenge on all that past you speak of.

Your words are stamped 😉

I gotta see him stay off the ground for 10 rounds first.

I don't think so.  But Jett has definitely passed Eli multiple times - and with authority.

He did pass him in a couple of Jett's bad races last year. I hate to admit it but Jett also wadded himself trying to catch Tomac at a triple crown last year. I mean, all of these guys are fast and pretty close in speed. It's more of who can maintain the given pace at each round.

After absorbing the raw practice footage from today... Nope. A handful of races? Sure.

In a game of inches, Jett is somehow finding more than that. He looks unreal.

I want Tomac to take the championship... I'd never bet on it though.

I think Tomac will win a couple this year and podium a few races but no way he keeps up with Jett, chase and hunter for 17rds. There’s nothing wrong with that either, his legacy is sealed. He’s got nothing to prove.

He looks fantastic and the stop watch supports it.

I still think Webb will be the guy most likely to challenge Jett this year. He is supposed to be healthy and able to hold onto his bike for an entire main like he always could.

But it certainly looks like Eli may be the guy.

"10+ seconds behind Jett" comment.

Apparently, he confused Chase Sexton with Jett Lawrence ??

Aside from the strange quoted comment,..I think that some or likely most of the comments here, are predictions/opinions based on the scope of all 17 rounds.
